PII 092: Response Generating Digital Marketing Content Creation Service

Intelligent creation of new and useful digital marketing content is the key to achieving – and sustaining – name and brand recognition at low to zero cost.

Look around the web, and you’ll see that those businesses that are able to capture your attention, for decent periods of time – especially the ones whose websites you find yourself going back to, often have a routine of churning out new content designed to appeal to their desired target audience.

But creating new and interesting content that attracts pre-qualified prospects to your business on a regular basis is NOT easy to do. It takes lots of hard work characterized by thinking, researching, testing, evaluating etc.

Those that get the best results typically employ a combination of methods – including creation of unique series of articles, videos, audios, PDF reports, info-graphics and others.

Every business will however need to experiment quite a bit to find out what works best for its brand. Very rarely will it be possible to arrive at a one size fits all kind of web marketing campaign. Instead, the business owner and/or those responsible for the web marketing implementation may most likely have to do lots of testing to identify what combination of methods gives the best results.

Not only will that process take time, but it will also require considerable investment of effort in thinking up new ideas, implementing and reviewing them.

When you are an expert art your core business, the required investment of time, effort and resources to make the above happen, may however not be something you find yourself able to commit to.

Much as most business owners would love to do it, I’ve seen many of them struggle to combine it with carrying out web marketing content creation and propagation to boost their business marketing reach and impact – the way it needs to be done, for best results to happen.

We all have our strengths, and sometimes it pays to know when it would be best to outsource work that is NOT your core area of expertise.

This is why there is a growing demand for intelligent, value adding, web marketing content creation support services, delivered via a ghostwriting arrangement – like the one I’ve delivered to clients for years.

Since 2004, I have worked with experts in a wide range of industries (consulting, IT, real estate, health and fitness, hotels, bars/restaurants, hospitals, law, agriculture, education etc) to create and propagate web marketing content for their businesses.

My versatility/keen multipreneurial attitude and resourcefulness makes clients connect with me in ways that lead to long term relationships and friendships in which I add way more value to them than what they pay for.

Little wonder that many gladly remain in my network and most buy into other solutions I up sell to them over time.

Today, I have several who started out years ago by purchasing my Excel-VB software, but have since moved on to having me deliver other solutions like ghostwriting books, developing web marketing systems etc.

But for me, by far the most exciting part of the work I do as a Location Independent Multipreneur is the aspect that involves using my creative writing skills to support clients in a variety of ways – especially with regard to the use of PC/Internet Technology.

Below is an example of the ways I use my passion – and unique gift – for creative response generating writing – to help clients cost-effectively achieve improved marketing results

If you want take the work out of your business marketing, while boosting your reach and impact, the following custom solutions will interest you

If You Are Well Adjusted To a Profoundly Sick Society, be Worried! [True Story]

It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. Jiddu Krishnamurti [Source]

Watch the above video titled “Who are you?”. Watch this video to enlighten yourself, then go out and plant a seed by sharing the insights you gain with others.

The point I make in this article, is that MANY Nigerians need to do the above, to become better human beings. If you think that means I’m judging, then so be it. But I KNOW what I see, and I know who I am. What I see tells me that MANY Nigerians need to do what that video recommends – and start living as better human beings.

It is my considered opinion that too many well schooled Nigerians fail to realize that the fact that “we” all dress well and speak (what we consider) “good English to one another does NOT mean “we” are all equally sane.

Yes, I mean SANE as in sanity – opposite of insanity aka madness.

Many Nigerians, rich, not-so-rich and poor,  are in different stages of insanity, influenced by the socioeconomic environment we interact/are raised in..

[NB: Let him who the cap fits wear it. For me, I categorize people based on their actions – what they do, and not what they say about themselves!]

As a result of the state of mind of majority among us, NORMAL thinking habits that people in progressive societies employ rarely appeal to us.

This is why it is said that even Jesus Christ and Islam’s Muhammad (PBUH) would get corrupted if they spent too much time with Nigerians.

I bring the above points up because I believe we need to ask ourselves why we always demand straightforward solutions from leaders, when we KNOW we are not straightforward people, and our society is far from being a straightforward one???

When I still used to pound the pavement as an entrepreneur in Nigeria, in my early startup years, I kept doing what the Oyinbo books said one should do to market products and services

For instance, I placed ads, designed and printed flyers and made sales calls. I attended networking events and conferences. I subscribed to magazines and so on.

Yet, I got little or nothing in terms of client projects from all those efforts. And the few I got made a mockery of my skills, experience and educational qualifications!

The problem was I could not figure out why I struggled even as I saw many crooked and less competent others getting client projects I wanted.

One day I visited a higher institution based on an advert I’d seen in a daily, to speak with the owner of an engineering training firm about an idea I had for a Joint Venture.

It turned out the gentleman was also a lecturer in the engineering department.

After I introduced myself, we got talking about what he did and at a point I mentioned that I’d once been a guest speaker at the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (Shangisha Management Village) and that the feedback in the forms filled by the centre’s directors had encouraged me to develop a one-day seminar based on the theme of the talk I’d given there.

I however noted that despite hand delivering over 50 copies to organizations across the state (many of which were multinationals or large indigenous ones), I’d gotten nowhere with it.

He looked at me in amusement as I spoke, then smiled as he pulled out a one page document with names, and signatures as well as a stamp on it.

Pointing to the fee per head column, he told me that the training manager in the company he did that training for had bluntly told him to give up N4k out of the N15k for EVERY one of the 15 attendees who got nominated to attend.

He then told me what amounted to the following (i.e not his exact words):

“My friend, you will not hear from them. They expect you to know what to do. If you know what to do, and make them an offer, they will then tell you what they want. From what I see on this booklet, this program of yours is loaded, but if you refuse to do what I’m telling you, I really doubt if you’ll make headway with it.”

That conversation happened in 2004 – 2 years after I became self-employed.

No one ever had told me I needed to “know what to do” along those fraudulent lines when I started out as an entrepreneur.

What I later found out was that almost everyone around me knew and/or also did it (relatives included!)

They just assumed and expected I would find out and eventually fall in line, having LEARNT that it was impossible to fight the system.

Well, here I am today. I succeed on an international level as a multipreneur, earning income without needed to leave my home – and while traveling between countries.

But I did not continue wasting my time fighting the system. Instead, after YEARS of suffering doing that, I conceived a system that enabled me completely EVADE the system.

In other words, I found a way to do what I LOVED doing for a living, without needing to relate with people who believed in the system in a way that gave them power over me!

How does ALL this relate to the issue of Buhari and his Presidency?

Well, it’s simple really.

Nigerians, from what I’ve seen over the past 14 years as an entrepreneur, are 99% a duplicitous lot.

Forget schoolong, status, class, income level etc. Duplicity has become a way of life for most Nigerians!

So, anyone who wants to achieve meaningful progress working with NIgerians will probably have to be psychic to SEE through their double-facedness.

As a president, Local Government Chairman or head of a small parastatal, or a mere chairman of building community awarding contracts in your small church(!) you will find yourself sorrounded by conniving characters who show one face to you today, and another tomorrow. Scheming to get what they are not qualified to have!

Based on the above situation, no matter how well intentioned your words and actions are, you may find that pleasing Nigerians will be hard – because even those crying that they are being victimized today (and even those working with/for you) will often gladly let themselves be used against you, for the right fee!

Example: What does it take to get 80% of Nigerians to go out and bear false witness about something that did not happen?

We’ve seen it happen again and again – accusations and counter accusations with those in charge of deciding who is telling the truth even eventually getting fingered for also joining in!!!!

It is possible that the above is why Buhari said he wanted to search for the “root cause”….maybe the man is seeing a lot of the duplicity on all sides as I have seen in my own small corner of Nigeria(?)

Maybe that’s what makes him seem sometimes so reluctant to act I.e he’s struggling to make sense of the mixed signals he’s getting(?)

Or maybe the man is just confused….or biased as some would have us believe (NB: I do NOT agree with this school of thought).

Hopefully it will be obvious I’m making no case in support of Buhari here.

In fact, I’m making no case in support of, or against anyone here.

Instead, I’m simply saying the major problem of Nigeria is that it is a society of over 80% dishonest SOULS who never want to let truth previal and always put self-interest first!

In such an environment, even an angel will struggle to get anythjing right as leader.

That’s why I still prefer having Buhari as President, his faults notwithstanding!

PII 091: To Succeed Inspite of Adversity, Be Prepared to Do Whatever it Takes

I’ve diligently applied myself with single minded determination in pursuit of my goals, by promoting my brand at low to zero cost using the web.

The positive results I’ve have recorded over the years, evidenced by the growth in name and brand recognition I now enjoy at an increasing rate, today, makes more people willing to believe and invest in me.

Unlike what happened in the past, I find that some friends, relatives and even clients, are now more willing to go out of their way to support me, anytime I make the request.

Sometimes I’ve been shocked by how readily some accept to do so, and that really helps me appreciate how far I’ve come.

This brings me to the core message I want to pass in this article

You see, your journey to success is very unlikely to be a straight and short one.

PII 091: To Succeed Inspite of Adversity, Be Prepared to Do Whatever it Takes

Only those who do NOT know me will make the BIG mistake of thinking that ANY setback, delay or disappointment can EVER make me change my mind about achieving a goal I’ve carefully thought about and concluded to be worth pursuing.

If truth be told, I simply do NOT know how to give up on anything I set my mind on.

That’s why those who find themselves in my way (especially ones who go beyond nay saying to making efforts – openly or hidden) to try and stop me, will rarely find it funny, because I AM fanatically relentless.

And that’s what has gotten me to build my brand to be what it is today, online – despite the fact that I literally had to crawl my way up from way below ground zero.

I had nothing left after less than 18 months in my first startup year – back in 2003. The little change I’d left Guinness Nigeria with, after I resigned had evaporated before I had time to unlearn the bad spending habits I’d picked up during my 7 year journey as a well paid high flying manager in that company.

Looking back, I must say it was from that point that I really hit rock bottom.

Especially after I tried valiantly for another 5 years following that period, without success, to get my act together towards making the impact I believed I was capable of.

Nothing just seemed to work the way I planned or wanted them to. Nothing at all.

At this time, I should add, that I was completely and totally unable cough up a mere N100.0 naira to buy fuel into my own car, talk less of giving money to the kids or their mother (who did not work at the time).

The only saving grace I had was that we’d been forced to move in with my parents in the family house at the time, after I’d failed to find accommodation in Ibadan where, in line with my exit plans from Guinness, I’d originally intended to settle down, in preparation to launch a Catfish Farm based business.

So, at least my family had access to food and shelter – but that was more or less it.

Each day, I had to find a way to go out and “hunt” for business – any business at all, that my skills set could attract.

But I soon stopped looking to big companies after I got tired of the silly mind games and nonsensical demands that those whose personnel I had contact with seemed to be so keen on.

Instead I began approaching small and micro business owners, who I was over time able to win over.

But those sales took time to make. The came in trickles that went on and off erratically, until I learned to make them happen on a more regular basis via pavement pounding.

(TIP: Today, however, I no longer go “hunting” and instead deliver the very same solutions to clients who discover me online, via my web marketing).

I got to a point at which I borrowed from anyone close to me, to get N200 to visit the cafe and check my mails, and/or to by petrol into my car to go out each day.

Eventually, some people, especially close relatives/friends stopped taking my calls, and often let their phones ring out. They had given and given, in various amounts, and I rarely was able to RETURN what they gave.

It was bound to happen -and I did not blame any of them for doing so. They had their own responsibilities and priorities.

But those experiences during my darkest days as an entrepreneur (and they happened every now and then for many years) were the making of me – to paraphrase Thomas Edison, in a quote referring to his mother.

Those terrible days and nights when I had nothing and found myself still getting hit with what were seemingly harsher doses of more bad luck than I’d faced, were what transformed/shaped me into the force of nature that I am today.

I wish it was not true, but the fact is that I NEVER had any mentor anywhere, who showed me the way or opened doors for me. Neither did I have any fan club of admirers who openly rooted for me from the sidelines all through most of my dark days.

All I had was myself.

And I realized I would simply have to dig deep within myself to find the solutions I needed, when no one else was willing to believe further with me at that point.

Thankfully, I’d always read a lot, and my reading had often been focused on books for personal achievement – like Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, and similar others (like James R. Cook’s excellent New York Times bestseller “The Startup Entrepreneur), as well as several of Robert Kiyosaki’s books.

Those were the closest to real life mentoring I got, and I had to accept that they would have to be enough.

You see, I’d trained myself YEARS before I went into business, to NEVER look outside of myself for answers to my problems.

If anything comes from outside of me, that helps me progress or succeed, I’ll take that as a bonus.

But most of my effort is deliberately focused on intelligently exploring ways to achieve my goals. And that includes connecting with the Creator, so that relevant inspiration comes to me that I can harness for use in the physical plane.

This latter statement highlights the key to the success I continue to enjoy today, despite exposure to myriad visitations of heart breaking adversity.

I tell many people all the time that they can tap inwardly for guidance to solve problems from the Creator, if they are willing to LISTEN and LEARN from him, instead of chasing others to do it for them.

This is why I have so many experiences that I narrate as true stories to individual/group audiences in which I achieve what others consider impossible or miracles of sorts.

A good example is how, several months ago, I convinced a total stranger – a Nigerian born professional living and working in the UK – who has still yet to meet me in person, to fund my web hosting reseller account with $100 US dollars.

This was so I could use the money to effect renewal payments for my webhosting clients in Nigeria and Benin Republics. And it’s not the first time I’ve done such a thing – with others too.

You will agree with me that, as we say in Nigeria, THAT goes beyond “ordinary eyes’.

Yes. That’s evidence of spiritual intervention – but not in a religious sense, as I point out to my audience…since I do NOT practice any formal religion and have not done so since 1989 (my 3rd year in the university).

But guess what?

I’ve diligently applied myself with single minded determination in pursuit of my goals, by promoting my brand at low to zero cost using the web.

The positive results I’ve have recorded over the years, evidenced by the growth in name and brand recognition I now enjoy at an increasing rate, today, makes more people willing to believe and invest in me

Life is very rarely lived that way – especially not for an authentic non-corner-cutting entrepreneur.

The peaks (successes) and troughs (failures) you pass through will form an integral part of your learning experience, and you will be wise to make smart use of them to improve yourself.

Doing that will however not be easy: Failure can be very painful, discouraging and frustrating!

Sometimes you will wonder “why does it have to be so hard?” and even complain that you’re suffering too much. Don’t worry, it’s only human to feel that way!

Feel free to vent.

Find someone who cares enough to share with you during those tough moments. [Hint: For some people, their spouses WILL NOT be THAT person :-)]

But never let yourself get into a rut from which you’re unable to emerge. Understand that no matter what goes wrong as you work hard to succeed, YOU ARE 100% capable of beating it and advancing to the next level of success you desire.

What you simply need to do is resolve never to give up, and instead aim to do more, with greater intelligence and creativity, based on careful analysis of why you did not succeed before. Sooner than later, you will find success on a more repeatable and consistent basis.

Everything I’ve said to you above, is what I’ve done countless times over the past 14 years, to get my brand to the point I’m at today, in which I get paid by clients from within and outside Africa to provide my multidisciplinary range of solutions.

That’s why I know that nothing can EVER stop me from doing more, and succeeding even better than I am currently doing.

It is also why I am convinced that if you adopt a similar mental attitude and strategy, you WILL also become UNSTOPPABLE, no matter what goes wrong in your life – like I AM!

[RECOMMENDED] Why The Degree is Dying (and being replaced by something better) by Isaac Morehouse – Founder & CEO of Praxis

If I did not know better, I could have sworn the author of this piece spent some time reading my mind before writing THIS excellent piece.

Now, don’t get it twisted: The idea being advocated for adoption here is not that classroom based learning is no longer useful.

Instead, as the author notes in the excerpt below, the manner in which classroom learning is conventionally managed (as Sir Ken Robinson famously noted in his TEDx presentation) tends to kill CREATIVITY or “damages learners”)!

Why The Degree is Dying (and being replaced by something better) by Isaac Morehouse – Founder & CEO of Praxis

“There’s a value to classroom learning, but it’s currently endured unhappily by most students (and many professors) as a means to get the paper credential. This unholy marriage of credential and classroom has done damage to both. Learning environments without the (supposedly) magic job ticket are of vastly superior quality. Whether free or paid, online or in person, podcasts, courses, videos, and lectures of all kinds freely chosen by interested learners maintain quality that mandated credentialed classes can’t touch.

This last point smashes a pernicious myth perpetrated by some academics. That skipping college is anti-intellectual. Far from it. Self-driven learning has never fared better, and the conflation of desperation for a job ticket with thirst for knowledge is absurd.”

[AUDIO PODCAST TRAINING] Farm Records Need to Go Beyond Financial Data: A Potentially Costly Mistake Many Farm CEOs Make!

This post announces a special audio podcast training I’ve just broadcast prepared for exclusive access by members of my Cost-Saving Farm Business Ideas club – via email and our private Facebook group.

Short Transcript Excerpt from the Audio Intro…

===Starts===

This is a word of advice to Livestock Farm Business owners in Africa in particular and globally in general.

There is this trend I’ve noticed in which when Farm Business Owners (or Farm CEOs) are talking (or being told) about RECORD KEEPING, there seems to be this, for some reason, emphasis on financial records as if those are the only kinds of records that need to be kept.

Indeed, what I’ve noticed is that they (financial records) might even get discussed to the exclusion of other kinds of records which are actually the foundation on which the financial records NEED to be built…NEED to be recorded!

And I have found it important, on several occasions, to write articles along those lines to try and re-educate (re-orient!) people or open their eyes to what they are missing.

This is because when you don’t look at the production or operations end of your business and you begin to talk about the financial figures, especially when you are in a batch production process, a manufacturing process of sorts, which livestock farming is, then you lose the opportunity to really get a grip on the performance of your business and how to grow it.

Your Ability to Speak Another International Language Can Break Barriers For You [True Story]

Today, I visited the embassy of a Francophone African country on Victoria Island to make certain inquiries.

Right from the gate, I made a point of speaking ONLY French and in as formal a manner as possible.

For those who have been following my writing for some time, you most likely to know the story of how I learnt to speak, read and write the French language(click here to read it in a new window) .

I did so by taking an intensive 3 month course in 1999, while working shifts as a 29 year old shift brewer in Guinness Nigeria’s Benin Brewery in Edo State’s Benin City.

Then (with the help of my Cameroonian teacher (Valentine – who has since returned to Douala), I visited and lived in/moved around Douala, Yaoundé, Oballa, Mendong and other parts of Cameroon over a 3 week period.- during that same year (1999) during my annual leave.

Most entertaining to look back on, today, for me, however remains the part of my story about how I had to return to Nigeria (and my job in Guinness), penniless by boat under heavy rainfall!

TIP: I wrote the book, shown below, based on my learning experiences

Proven 5 Step Formula For Learning ANY Language In 3 Months (or Less)!
=========================================

But back to the story about my latest visit to the embassy.

Determined to ensure I did not get turned back or given the stiff diplomatic treatment that can sometimes be meted out, I put my hard won ability to speak French to use.

And it got me the results I wanted – up to a point.

Each officer that attended to me promptly referred me onward to the next. I eventually got to a senior official, who on speaking with me, promptly stated that that the fee required to get the document I wanted was the country’s currency’s equivalent of N6, 500.0.(Nigerian Naira).

Wasting no time, he instructed his assistant to give me the application form to fill, and to collect a copy of my passport photograph.

Then he left us and went upstairs.

Motioning for me to sit down, the lady pushed the form across to the table, while speaking to two colleagues about work and their activities during the past weekend.

By the time I read through the form however, I knew I had come to a point I was not likely to be able to move beyond!

It was (of course) written in French.

But that was not the problem.

Instead it was a question towards the end of the form that asked how long I had been in Nigeria and how much longer I planned to stay in the country.

Since I was a Nigerian, I knew that the form was NOT meant for me – and filling it would be a dishonest thing for me to do, since I would effectively be pretending.

The fact that they had offered it to me however indicated that they assumed that I was a citizen of their country.- and (since I had yet to give them my name.- which would have been an instant give-away) they most likely got that impression from the way I’d spoken the language.

At this point I looked at the lady and told her “Look, I won’t be able to fill this form – because I’m actually a Nigerian”

“Vraiment?” (Translation: Really?) She and her colleague exclaimed in surprise,

But how come you speak French so well?” she queried.

I replied by explaining (as I did earlier in this piece) how I’d learnt the language.

She responded by noting that her boss had obviously concluded I was THEIR citizen visiting Nigeria for a period, but added that since I was actually Nigerian it was unlikely that I’d be able to get the document I wanted, issued by them.

Despite saying that, she however still encouraged me to wait for him to return, so I could ask him directly.

While we waited, she and her colleagues chatted with me about the exchange rate between both countries, and possible alternative options I could pursue in the event that I got turned away.

Not long after, their boss descended the stairs, greeted a Nigerian lady who’d just arrived on appointment, and had been referred to the upper floor, before heading to his office.

Following his assistant’s que, I followed him into his office, and announced to him that my Nigerian nationality meant I could not use the form he’d referred to me.

The usual exclamation of surprise followed in which he said “Really? You’re a Nigerian? But where did you learn to speak French so well?”

After I’d supplied the usual answers, he told me I would have to get the document I wanted issued to me from the Nigerian end, and NOT from theirs.

I’d half expected this would be the case, but felt the best way to find out would be to try.

And now I had.

But even though I’d failed to get the document, I took consolation in the knowledge that I’d come away better informed about where to go and what to do,

What’s more I’d made new friends and created a positive impression that I believe can pave the way for me to see the BIG man upstairs, in the next visit I plan to pay them!

Starting tomorrow, I’ll visit the office I’ve been told will issue the document I need to me. If all goes the way they’ve told me it currently does, I should get it in 3 working days.

My key purpose for sharing this story is to SHOW the reader how being able to speak another language can equip you to progress towards your goal beyond what you (or others) would normally have been able to achieve, without that ability.

I will add that I have successfully gotten access to people and places (in French speaking societies) that would have been otherwise impossible to reach, simply by DEMONSTRATING my proficiency in the use of French, while travelling across different West African nations.

Initially stiff – even hostile – encounters with government officials or even private individuals have often dissolved into very friendly exchanges, some of which now evolved into lasting friendships.

All because I was able to speak the language of the other person(s)!

You have everything to gain, and nothing to lose by learning to speak another language.

In my case, I have a vision to deliver solutions I offer to people fitting my target audience profile across the African continent – starting from West Africa.

And Francophone West Africa, being French speaking, makes it imperative that I develop and demonstrate my proficiency of the use of the French language, to inspire them to be more willing to connect with me.

Let your decision about what language to learn be informed by the goals you need to achieve and where you need to achieve them.

Click here to learn about a Quick and Dirty Guide to English for French Speakers Excel-VB Application I created in 2013, and sold to a Beninese professional who pestered me to help him improve his command of the English Language.

PII 088: To Succeed, an Entrepreneur Needs to Know Some Friends and Relatives May NOT Be On Her Side

I state truths that many will find uncomfortable in this piece. But they need to be said, because they are based on realities of life.

Bob Marley, the late Reggae music legend saw enough of it, to sing about it in his song “Who the cap fit”. So I know I’m in good company as I take the plunge to write this 😉

marley-worst-enemy

Let me begin by stating a bias that I have developed based on personal observations and experiences over the past 14 years, as follows:

To get along – and remain on good terms – with most friends and relatives, I would suggest that you DO NOT BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR.

Now, before I explain why I hold that opinion, I must ask you to note that owning a business enterprise will NOT necessarily make you an AUTHENTIC entrepreneur.

There are specific distinguishing attributes that set a real entrepreneur apart from the crowd of others that people may see in society.

Quite often an authentic entrepreneur would be one who makes a habit of straying from the established path or traditional ways of doing things.

S/he would be the one to fearlessly venture BEYOND the realms of the familiar to break new ground and test new ideas way outside what others consider sane or possible.

You know those kinds of people who try to do what no one has ever done before – and who refuse to let others, no matter how wise their counsel, tell them it’s IMPOSSIBLE.

Yes. Entrepreneurs are dreamers – and they are typically willing to go out on a limb, to put everything they own on the line, to pursue and achieve their dreams, even when NOT assured of success!

Since the larger majority of people in society tend not to be so willing to think and act as crazy as described above, most authentic entrepreneurs may tend to find themselves regarded as crazy or odd.

And so even though they would love to have people around most “normal” people would carefully avoid staying too long around them. As a result they would tend to be alone – at least until they achieve the inevitable breakthrough that makes them “famous” or successful. Then suddenly, in typical predictable human fashion, most people would suddenly want to be associated with them!

However, it’s the period before they arrive at “successville” that this article refers to, in discussing the kinds of people an entrepreneur needs to exercise caution in relating with

Failure to do so could cause him/her to get easily sabotage by people with ulterior motives – some of who could be close friends and relatives!

Yep. I say this without apology: Some so called friends/relatives can play roles that amount to sabotage in the life of an entrepreneur they claim to “love” or care for.

marley-worst-enemy1

I once read an article by an entrepreneur who in describing his startup experiences stated that after trying without success to get him to change his mind and venture into some other area they considered to offer more realistic chances of success, some close relatives “folded their hands and watched, waiting for him to fail”.

In other words, rather than give him the help he needed, they chose to leave him hanging. And what did he want? It was that they purchase equity in his business, or loan him money. Luckily he found willing others, who were more or less total strangers but who saw the potential in his business idea.

This happens more than most people realize. Relatives can be the most critical and unforgiving of those an entrepreneur may have to deal with. Especially when you are yet to achieve a sustainable breakthrough.

Under certain circumstances, in certain cultures, one could actually be right to assume that some friends/relatives could pose a DANGER to an entrepreneur’s ability to succeed (or keep succeeding)…

Those who fall into this category have the tendency to believe that being close to you, makes them an authority on what you can or cannot do.

You see, our close friends/relatives will often be the ones who SEE us when we fall, fail, make mistakes, have setback etc.

Quite often some of them will be the ones who help us get back on our feet – or at the least they will be witnesses to the PROCESS we went through, to find our feet again.

Now, until we hit it big and achieve that crucial breakthrough into the big leagues, so long as we’re still not up there, people like that can develop what amounts to a SUPERIORITY complex of sorts.

Lacking the insights to understand that the failure we experience are TEACHING us how to succeed, many of them typically sit back in their armchairs passing comments and judgments about how they “warned” so and so, but s/he would not listen.

Then when you achieve some notable success, they conveniently pretend not to hear about it, and so do not pas THAT bit of news to the fan club they’ve been talking about you to.

Why? Because if they did, then it would look like they did not know what they were talking about earlier when they criticized you to them!

And that’s what makes these kinds of people potentially dangerous!

What I have learned from YEARS of personal experience as well as careful study and observation, is that even your so called close friend or relative can feel threatened by your success if, for instance, s/he believes it will make him/her lose face!

So, if/when s/he finds him/herself in a position to play a role that can determine if you achieve THAT major breakthrough, to success that you’ve announced you’re capable of (and which s/he has told everyone you’re not up to), s/he could choose to BLOCK it.

A relative you do not see eye to eye with during family gatherings, and who you make a point of calling out for bad behavi0ur, could insist to others that your disposition to him/her implies you would not be able to relate well with clients. And based on that justification would discourage them from buying into the business you wish to start – arguing that your customer relations would be lacking to keep clients.

That of course does NOT follow – but people like that who secretly have an axe to grind with you, would latch on to any opportunity to pass judgment on you in that manner.

Beware of The Ones Who Pretend to Believe!

marley-worst-enemy2

I prefer people who let you know what they think, to those who hide their true feelings just to take advantage of you.

Most times you would never get to hear what they did. But every once in a while, you would meet get wind of what they said through an innocent third party, that was present, but who may  not even know you’re related to the person they heard it from – and that YOU were the subject of the discussion!

Some people are skilled in pretending to be on “your side” – so they can fool you into letting them come close and gain access to inside information about what you’re doing, and how you’re getting on.

Then they take that information obtained via privileged access to you, and go sharing it with others that you’re not as close to – using it to get bragging rights.

However, they never speak on your behalf – and actually share the negative views about you, or your chosen path, that are held by the others – only they do not say so to YOUR FACE!

If you have a friend or relative like that, you’ll have to work hard to unmask him/her!

Such people are called “Anchorless Social Chameleons” in the bestseller titled “Emotional Intelligence”.

There is a real danger that you may not discover you have an Anchorless Social Chameleon in your inner circle, until you’ve been dealt a painful “blow” of sorts by such two-faced or duplicitous individuals!

I recall the story told to me by the relative of a diplomat I once worked with. He explain that a cousin of his, who was a niece to the man, had gotten admission to study overseas in a US university.

They had run around to get the needed funds and when they needed a passport, had naturally reached out to this diplomat relative to help with THAT.

To their amazement, he not only failed to help process the application, but actually SAT on all the documents claiming he’d misplaced them, offering no alternative for them to pursue, UNTIL the time for submission elapsed.

The girl’s mother never forgave the man. It might interest you to know that this person had BOTH his own kids already schooling/working abroad – so it was not that it was a new experience for him. Like the young man who told me the story, that was the reason for the bad blood I’d asked him about that I noticed between the man and his less well-to-do sister (the girl’s mother).

Except you’re psychic, it’s impossible to know if a particular person(s) harbor(s) ill feelings towards you e.g. what they say when you’re not there i.e. behind your back.

It goes without saying though that NOT ALL friends/relatives will be like this.

Of course not!

The challenge will however be for you to LEARN how to identify those who can be TRUSTED and to what extent EACH can be trusted.

Life can be so complex and confusing sometimes. Why can’t things be so simpler? Why do human beings have to be some difficult to predict.

Well, I’ve asked myself those questions so many times over the years as I dealt with the backlash of gossip, innuendo, even vicious backstabbing from those I least expected it: close friends and relatives.

And I’ve come to the conclusion: You’d have to become GOD to fully answer those questions!

So I’ve learned instead to keep my own counsel, guarding myself and my vision as I pursue achievement of my valued life goals.

But whenever the opportunity presents itself, I do not hesitate to give direct feedback to any persons I find guilty of acting without integrity in relating with me – along the lines discussed in this article.

That is the best one can do – as life cannot be lived without these potentially negative experiences. Truth be told, they ultimately build us up, forcing us to grow and mature in ways we would otherwise probably NOT have done.

Here’s wishing you good luck as you continue in your pursuit of success, while learning to handle relatives who may play roles that test your limits and/or your patience!

[RECOMMENDED] DIY Africa: Empowering a new Sierra Leone – Kelvin Doe, Self-Taught Engineering Teenage Whiz From Sierra Leone, Wows MIT Experts (VIDEO) – As seen on CNN, HuffingtonPost, Wikipedia etc

In this special edition of my RECOMMENDED blog post series, I feature previews from high profile news reports about a young African’s amazing achievements – from when he was 13 years old – of using 100% self-taught engineering skills to innovate and invent PRACTICAL solutions to everyday problems in his own community.

His accomplishments have since led him to set records of all kinds – including becoming the “youngest person in history to be invited to the “Visiting Practitioner’s Program” at MIT” at age 15 – and meeting globally known public figures like the President of Harvard University – and even Hilary Clinton!

Below, I offer a menu of excerpts ending with links to the full reports

sdn-kelvin-doe

1. “Kelvin Doe, now 16, became the youngest person in history to be invited to the “Visiting Practitioner’s Program” at MIT, according to CNN….MIT discovered Doe during Innovate Salone, a national high school innovation challengeheld in Sierra Leone by an international organization called Global Minimum. Doctoral student David Sengeh recognized his skills right away.

2. “Kelvin Doe (born 26 October 1996 in Freetown), also known as DJ Focus, is a Sierra Leonean engineer. He is known for teaching himself engineering at the age of 13 and building his own radio station in Sierra Leone, where he plays music and broadcasts news under the name “DJ Focus.” He was one of the finalists in GMin’s Innovate Salone idea competition, in which Doe built a generator from scrap metals. Doe would constantly use discarded pieces of scrap to build transmitters, generators, and batteries, as well.[1][2]

3. (CNN) — When Kelvin Doe, a then-13-year-old from Sierra Leone, saw that off-the-shelf batteries were too expensive for the inventions he was working on, he made his own at home. Kelvin did not have the privilege to do his project in a school environment. Rather, he was compelled to act by necessity and for the joy of solving practical problems. Kelvin combined acid, soda, and metal, dumped those ingredients in a tin cup, waited for the mixture to dry and wrapped tape around the cup to make his first battery. He failed several times before completing a final, working prototype. He hasn’t purchased a battery since.

4. [Maker Faire] Mention Africa and many of us westerners immediately conjure up images of war, famine, and genocide. But Sierra Leone’s 16-year-old Kelvin Doe is conjuring up something something altogether different.

Kelvin, AKA DJ Focus, helped create a DIY youth radio station made from discarded consumer electronics salvaged from local garbage bins. He designed his own generator to power the station’s amplifier and other components. The station’s 12-volt generator is made from a home-made battery which in turn is  charged by broken DVD players. In his spare time, Kelvin DJs at kids’ birthday parties.

Hi there, this is Tayo Solagbade and it’s about 4.54a.m. I’m recording this special update just to announce some slight modifications to the way I’ll be providing my solutions to everybody in my network.

Now please note that what I’m about to say here applies to you whether you’re already a client or whether you’re just a subscriber in my network, or maybe you’re just on my contacts list and I sent it to you.

But in the email I would have spelt out the same terms I’m about to describe in this audio, and it’s just designed to let everybody be on the same page.

Starting from Monday, the 9th of October 2017, I will be launching a new system for sending out offers to people in my network. And this will be a blanket system. In other words I will NOT be making special concessions to ANY particular groups of people anymore.

Instead I’m going to just be giving a blanket system of offers to make what I used to call “Crazy Promos”…there will no longer be called “crazy promos.

Instead I’m going to just have promos, because like I said I’ve tested all kinds of things this year, and what I’ve learned is that at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you should make your offers with integrity, but at the same time make them to have as much of a human face as possible.

Incidentally, it was some of you who told me this – who requested for this and asked, “Oh why can’t you make it a bit longer. These are short” and all of that. And what I found out over the years, from experts that I studied in developing my model, is that it’s always a smart thing to test. If people tell you they want “this”, TEST it! Don’t just be (like some clients used to tell me I was…lol) “rigid”.

So I said, OK – they say I’m rigid, let me see – just how flexible can I be, that they will be able to take it up…

So, I tried being flexible, and I noticed that the more flexible I tried to be, not everybody would respond to the effort being made to be flexible.

Some people still, there was always something!

So I said OK, the African and Nigerian environment is peculiar. People have challenges they are facing that are not normal. Because they are not like Americans, where everybody has their credit cards and you can just be charging their credit cards, every month, like some of my Oyinbo mentors that I’ve studied.

Some people are dealing with price changes of maize every week. So when they are talking about subscribing to your offer – when they say YES last week, by this week, they’ll say “Ol boy that YES don turn to MAYBE” lol!

And so I said to myself, that I have to find out something. that will be convenient for everybody and that would be FAIR! But I realized in the process of trying to do that, testing all kinds of approaches, practically with each person, especially those people who were already my clients and I felt I knew them and that it would be unfair not to give the guy a chance. I found out that there could be a varying degree of commitment even after you’d made these modifications.

So, eventually what I’ve come to is the conclusion that a person who really wants something (and that’s something I’ve actually always known), if he wants something badly enough, he’ll find away to get it.

All you have to do it to be fair in how you make the offer. Once you’ve done that, then your own part is played and it’s left to the person to decide.

And so, long story short, what I’m announcing to all of you is:

Starting Monday (9th October 2017), there will not be any crazy promos. They will just be FLASH PROMOS – which are promos that are (tightly) time limited.

So, the time limit can be in 3 forms.

The first form or first dealing will be 24 hours

That price will be crazy but I will not call it a crazy promo.

It’s just going to be at a flash promo price. You take it up in 24hours you get that price. You go beyond 24 hours, you’re going to have to deal with DOUBLE that price which will be applicable for 24 hours.

Then after that it goes back to (for instance if the thing was supposed to be ) N100k and I gave it to you at N5k, then you would actually have to pay N10k if you missed the 24 hour deadline, and then after the 48 hour deadline, you would have to pay the N100k…or comot eye lol!

Now, it’s important to note, that what I’m talking about here, there are no exceptions to it.

It does not matter if you’re a member of my Farm Business Ideas club or Web Marketing for CEOs club or whether you’re just a subscriber or you’re a member of my Inner Circle. It won’t matter.

(Not) even if you’re a member of Club Zero – because (unlike how I initially started it) I have revised the terms of Club Zero to be SPECIFICALLY for farm business owners.

The reason is this:

I would say that about 80% of my clients are Farm CEOs!

So those are the people that helped my brand to be what it is today, and it is for those people that I offer Club Zero – PRIMARILY.

It took me time, but I eventually decided that THAT was how I wanted it to be.

So anything outside Farm Business Support Solutions would NOT be a Club Zero thing. Therefore you won’t be able to get it at a zero price.

[RECOMMENDED] Why online courses are trending

This report highlights a reality that people are coming to accept all over the world – including Africa – about the increasing popularity of online courses amongst people seeking tertiary level education. As tuition fees keep rising, those who cannot afford them are embracing the use of remote learning web based resources that a growing number of institutions now offer.

Why online courses are trending

Hundreds of university students in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa and other African countries took to the streets last year to protest against high tuition fees, lack of equal access to education and inferior learning environments at their learning institutions. The clashes, which disrupted the universities’ academic calendars, highlighted the harsh conditions students face on the continent.

To put it into perspective, only about 6% of young people in sub-Saharan Africa are enrolled in higher education institutions, according to a 2015 report by the Africa-America Institute (AAI), a US-based organization that seeks to foster relations between Africa and the United States through higher education.
