TRUE STORY: 2 TRAVELERS SHOW HOW TO MAKE BRIBERY & CORRUPTION UNATTRACTIVE USING A VIRAL VIDEO

What should have been a straightforward process at the border crossing into the West African country, rapidly turned into a daytime-nightmare for famous Travel-Blogger-YouTuber Drew Binsky, and Alvaro, his colleague.

db-shot

They were shouted at, pushed around, told they would be handcuffed/locked up for 6 days. (Alvaro was told he would be) sent back across the border etc…UNTIL they were forced to pay $150 USD for a phony Cholera vaccination.

Unhappy with the treatment they’d received, they recorded and posted a video telling their story – which quickly went viral.

**********Excerpts from Drew Binsky’s video **********

db-we-got-scammed20a

“…they’re bandits and they’re robbing us essentially.” – Drew Binsky

“The only reason we paid is because we’re already super behind in our schedule and we couldn’t afford another hour another 2 hours of just waiting it out cuz we would have stayed and slept in the border. Essentially that’s the only reason. We’re totally against bribery and contributing to this corruption. We were really pissed.” – Alvaro (Drew’s Travel Partner)
**********End of Excerpts**********

Anyone who has followed my writing since I began my travels will know that I have published some articles discussing this kind of problem.

One example: No. 145: A Few People Can Make Life NEEDLESSLY Miserable for Many, IF Not Called to Order (Case Study: My Experiences at the Nigeria-Benin Republic Seme Border)

The undocumented, illegal and arbitrary payments that immigration officials at some country borders I cross (especially Nigeria and Benin Republic) demand from travelers.

Most people told me I was wasting my time by writing about it. But I’ve never been one to let others give up on my behalf.

Also I just believe if I do it enough, some person(s) with the means could be influenced to do something about it. Or maybe like minded others might choose to contribute theirs.

Well, Drew Binsky (a traveler with a large global following – https://drewbinsky.com/) did even more than I could hope to do, about it, in October 2019, during his trip through West Africa by posting a video CALLING OUT the crooked officials.

Not only were they arrested, but his money was also refunded!

db-we-got-scammed22

“But this bribery problem, specifically is in many African countries, specifically West Africa, and it is, in my opinion it’s one of the reasons why this part of the world is not progressing.” – Drew Binsky

My video trailer embedded below  [watch it in my channel at https://youtu.be/-MzhfjvKJLM] highlights excerpts from his story for others to learn from.

In it I note as follows:

“If those health officials knew how, they most likely would NEVER have settled for harassing travelers to make EXTRA money (in addition to their salaries).”

Then I recommend that our education system be modified to provide financial education that empowers citizens to learn how to make money even when they do not work – in line with what Robert Kiyosaki advocates.

PII 186 – TRUE STORY: Real Life Sales Conversation – New Farm CEO Client Agrees to Support My Old Client to Startup Catfish Farm via Barter Exchange Arrangement [AUDIO PODCAST]

In the audio Podcast linked below, I share with members of my clients and subscriber groups, LIVE recordings from a sales conversation I had with a new Catfish Farm CEO client I signed up last week – specifically on the 16th January 2020.

NB: If you’re reading this on my blog, the link provided below leads to a web form you need to fill to request download access to the audio podcast file.

At the time when we had the conversation, this new client had yet to signup, of course. But some hours later, he did signup by making the agreed payment.

We however had a special arrangement – indeed some of you have done business with me in the manner in which he and I have just consummated a relationship.

And that has to do with doing business via a partial barter exchange.

Briefly, he agreed to provide FREE training and consultancy support for another client of mine – a Club ZERO member – who having unexpectedly lost his job over a year ago, had expressed – to me via WhatsApp – the desire to start a micro to small Home Based/Backyard Catfish Farm business venture, but lacked funds.

Along with the link to the audio podcast, I have provided screenshots – SEE BELOW  – from chats and emails we exchanged.

I share the audio recordings to give you deeper insights, into how I leverage my Digital Cash Flow Generating Assets (DCFGAs) to achieve multiple goals at the same time, often at low to zero cost.

And I point out the fact that I am by so doing achieving what I have (in a previous article from 2019) referred to as “Silent Success”.

Hopefully you will be inspired to explore using the same strategy to get more done, with less effort, in less time, using fewer resources and at lower – or even ZERO – cost.

Let me know if you have questions or require clarification.

PII 185: [True Story] Learning to Use Bitter Leaf Juice to Prevent and Treat Coccidiosis In Poultry [Conversation With a Farm CEO Client On the Need to Double Check Reliability of Your Learning Sources]

*This write-up Is based on the verbatim text transcript of an audio message I sent to a Farm CEO client who recently purchased my Excel-VB Poultry Farm Manager (getting my Excel-VB Ration Formulator Software and Feed Formulation Handbook FREE in the process).

He’d found a website featuring an article that provided information about how to use bitter leaf juice extract to treat and prevent Coccidiosis outbreak in poultry, and wanted my opinion on it (see screenshots below).

This article discusses one example of how Fsrm CEOs are seizing the initiative to discover and adopt more proven nature friendly (and cost-effective) alternatives to conventional synthetic antibiotics – which have little or no negative side effects.

What follows below is mainly the rest of my audio message to the Farm CEO, transcribed to text.

He’d found a website featuring an article that provided information about how to use bitter leaf juice extract to treat and prevent Coccidiosis outbreak in poultry, and wanted my opinion on it (see screenshots below).

bitter-leaf-screenshots

I sell a 2 part 1.5 hour Audio Podcast Training product (created in 2015) in which I narrate the true story about how Biafran scientists used a prolific, wild growing West African weed called “Siam Weed” (Chromolaena Odorata) as an alternative protein source. to replace Fish Meal in making feed for their livestock (poultry and rabbits) during the Civil War.

They adopted this strategy after the Nigerian government placed an embargo on importation of key ingredients used for livestock feed manufacturing.

The achievement of the Biafrans illustrates how Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) can be developed by practicing farm owners to achieve cost-effective and more sustainable/profitable farm performance output.

It is in that sense that this article discusses one example of how Fsrm CEOs are seizing the initiative to discover and adopt more proven nature friendly (and cost-effective) alternatives to conventional synthetic antibiotics – which have little or no negative side effects.

Some of these new therapies were discovered by accident and refined via experimentation till they were confirmed to work. And farm business owners with their personnel, inspired by the results they are getting are exploring ways to adopt low cost alternatives in as many other areas as possible.

And that’s what Best Practice batch production is about i.e finding better and more sustainable ways to get the results we want from our unique farm processes.

It’s the way to go in today’s world.

However, you’ve got to know what you’re doing.

For instance, when it comes to a subject like “the use of Bitter Leaf Juice to prevent and treat Coccidiosis in your birds” you’ve got to have your measures and quantities right.

What follows below is mainly the rest of my audio message to the Farm CEO, transcribed to text…

===Starts===

You’ve got to know your ratios – if not you’re just going to (hurt or even) kill your birds.

The other website you initially consulted was good to the extent that it pointed out the direction you should go. However the information on offer there could have been much better presented.

There was very little effort made to clean up the prose used for instance, making reading a bit difficult, sometimes confusing. Even more significantly, required quantities and measures to be used, were left out.

Any follower of my writing on Farm Business knows that I strongly advocated adoption of best practice farm management procedures across all areas of a farm business enterprise.

It’s the surest way to ensure consistently reliable performance and minimize unexpected problems in your operations

For instance concerning the use of Bitter Leaf extract as I said earlier with regard to the first website, this was not done.

You see, you’ve got to be able to say, for example – for this number of birds, maybe twice a day, you’ll give them this quantity of say the Bitter Leaf extract to drink.

And even the natural extract you want to give them must be derived through a production process that ensures it is not only safe for them consume, but that it also delivers the desired benefits.

A look at the second website reveals that the author went to great lengths to do the above – with the result that he had practical information in ready-to-use format for readers to study and adopt.

Not just that, he had ANSWERS to their individual questions about how to make use of the information supplied, many times drawing from his own personal experiences doing it.

It goes without saying that there are other websites offering useful and reliable information on the use of this natural remedy for treating diseases like Coccidiosis.

I chose to use this second website in my discussion because he is a Nigerian based in Nigeria who works as a Farm CEO and technical consultant.

What he offers falls into the category of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) which I touched on in the 4,000 word case study paper I got paid 2,500 Euros to write in late 2013, by a European Union Funded NGO.

In that paper, I made the point that farm CEOs and other key players in the industry need to investigate and compile for sharing across their markets details of their IKS.

I define IKS as unique, original cost, time and effort saving solutions they develop to solve real life problems, or boost performance in their farm businesses.

At the end of the day, what the industry really needs are solutions that have worked for others, which people are comfortable with and able to therefore use repeatedly, with greater assurance of expected results.

I always want to assess a person based on the willingness s/he demonstrates to invest in his/her own brand.

If you look at the first website, it is hosted in blogspot.com.

I don’t have any problem with BlogSpot.

But the fact that it is free makes me put a question mark on it.

Anybody that is running a money making business and is using a free website – I put a question mark on that person .

Why?

Because when you’re making money everybody knows you can run a website on a shoestring budget.

And since the website is to be used to generate sales leads, it only makes sense that you invest in it to boost your brand’s marketing appeal, which can over time yield leads you convert to sales.

So if you’re going to have a website, the truth is to get taken seriously you need to have a proper branded website – or your own custom/branded domain name at the minimum!

You can even have free hosting but get your own branded domain name.

So, when I saw that use of a free domain name on the first website, I just got skeptical.

Then the second thing I saw was very haphazard content.

The purpose of the content posted is good. The intention is honorable. But the fact that s/he did not feel a need to clean out even the prose is a warning.

I’m not saying you have to be an English language professor, but for heaven’s sake there were so many parts of the write-up that could have been cleaned up and polished to facilitate smooth reading and comprehension.

He could have gotten a relative, spouse or friend, or partner to proofread. It was just all over the place.

That just threw red lights in my head.

I’m not trying to tear him/her down. I’m just saying you must use these things I’m mentioning to decide where you’re going to pitch your tent in terms of deciding where you’re going to borrow ideas to use.

This is because some guys just read up some things and put it out there – but their motives are different.

For instance they may be looking for traffic and not necessarily be concerned about fine-tuning the quality of their content to ensure those who use it get the right results. In other words they just want to get as many eyes to see what they want to sell.

They may be presenting agricultural content and not have any reliable know-how to share on it.

S/he might even be saying s/he has a farm and not have one.

There were no photos. There were no videos. There were no examples and the measurements were not provided. S/he just glossed over the entire subject without going into practically relevant detail.

That does very little to help a real life farm CEO trying to adopt this kind of unconventional idea!

But look at the second website (article) – https://guidefreak.com/how-to-use-bitter-leaf-extract-for-coccidiosis/

You can see from the level of detail provided that the author is a hands-on expert who understands the importance of offering clear and unambiguous information.

Apart from the fact that he offers very practically useful information, another thing is that he already has followers who are obviously real life farm CEOs looking for help on that very subject. As a result he was getting asked questions that he replied to in the comments section.

The truth is that farming is a very practical vocation that requires hands-on involvement if one is to be truly successful at it.

You simply cannot afford to be an absentee practitioner – especially not in this part of the world i.e. Nigeria/Africa.

Having said the above, it is instructive to note that not everyone will have followers or persons fitting his/her target audience profile commenting on his/her blog.

In other words you may come across some website or blog offering information that looks good but with no comments posted on it.

I wrote an article about this some years ago (I’ve written more since – see links below), in which I explain why this might happen and how it is not proof that the website or blog does not have followers.

Indeed my own brand is an excellent case in point because most of my followers/clients rarely choose to interact with me publicly or openly via comments on my blog for instance.

Instead they prefer to send me messages privately via email, SMSes, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter etc. Others choose to speak with me via phone, WhatsApp etc.

I get paid by 60 to 70% of those who choose to contact me through any of the above mentioned channels (here’s one example) – but you are not likely to see any signs that THAT is happening on my website, blog and other components of my Web Marketing System.

Except of course for those true story based articles I periodically publish in which I share information – with screenshots – about sales conversations and transaction I have with some of them.

So you rarely see comments on my blog from persons fitting my target audience profile. I think most times when I even have any comments at all, it’s on Twitter, Facebook – once in a while, usually someone from another country.

Therefore you cannot say a lack of comments on website or blog content you’re reviewing means the author does not have followers or clients who buy from him/her.

S/he may have serious followership, but if they are like the kinds of people who follow and buy from me, it’s unlikely that you will see them posting comments openly on such content.

**************************

Over the years, I’ve written articles to share my experience based insights about comments as they relate to a blog’s success. Here are some of them:

One of the important requirements for successful marketing and sales is to KNOW YOUR BUYER.

It’s part of the psychology of selling. Understanding their mindset will help you understand the behavior they exhibit and over time you will be able to predict how they will respond to your content – resulting in your improved ability to make gladly pay to get the solutions you offer.

I mention all this to give you information to guide you in choosing where you want to focus your attention to get information you will use in running your farm business.

There are lots of people out there giving advice who don’t have a basis for doing so.

So it’s important to have that in mind.

Going forward the second website offers what I consider all the practical information you will need, if you wish to adopt the ideas proposed.

I wanted to establish that it answers due diligence/best practice questions like the following:

  1. How to extract the juice needed from the leaves?
  2. What quantity of the juice extracted from the leaves is to be used to treat the birds?

In other words, the medicinal dosage to apply. So you don’t risk overdosing the birds or triggering some side effects. NB: Bitter leaf actually contains some potent active ingredients, so it would be really unwise to just give the juice to your birds without ensuring careful measurement.

  1. How to make use of the juice i.e. what procedure to follow in administering it to the birds, for best possible results?

So it’s good to see that this guy has provided such elaborate and potentially useful information.

Having said that, it is important to note that is it within the first few weeks of their lives, as chicks that the birds are most vulnerable to this bacterial disease called Coccidiosis.

But once it manifests and becomes endemic it can be very difficult to eradicate it.

However, an organic or natural therapy of the kind done using Bitter leaf juice makes it possible to safely expose them to treatment for long enough periods of time that can kill off the causative organisms.

Such prolonged administration of treatment for a stubborn infection like Coccidiosis can be difficult, and risky to implement without potentially serious side effects when synthetic drugs (e.g. antibiotics) are used.

Having said the above, I will still add that regardless of how good the information on offer is, you would be wise to proceed with caution.

When you read the article you will see that he recommends using the juice for prevention as well as treatment of infected birds.

So before your birds get exposed to the disease causing organisms, I recommend that you take a subsection of your flock i.e. isolate a set of birds and treat them first.

See how they behave or respond over a few weeks, to be sure that they are not adversely affected.

Then if need be, wait and check to ensure that they actually go though that phase of vulnerability without coming down with the infection, BEFORE you then go on to administer the treatment to the rest of your flock.

On the other hand, when it comes to treating an actual outbreak of Coccidiosis you know that they are likely to die anyway, if you do nothing.

By way of interest, one of the tell tale signs of Coccidiosis infection in the birds is bloody droppings, due the damage to the intestinal wall.

That causes pains to the birds making them less inclined to feed and eventually leading to their death

Now, unlike when trying to prevent the infection, this time around you would administer the treatment to all the infected birds.

Proceed cautiously in this case too. Take your time to carefully assess birds and decide how far to go.The main difference will be in the dosage – and the second website has provided a useful guide.

You can of course over time tweak your usage as you observe the response of the birds over time, to arrive at a best practice rate that you will then document for repeat use – and recommend to or share with other farm owners.

On a final note, you may wish to proactively get more information to guide your efforts in using bitter leaf juice for Coccidiosis treatment or prevention, by getting in touch with a competent vet.

S/he may be able to educate you on what to do based on his/her knowledge of the composition of active ingredients in the bitter leaf juice.

As the saying goes, no knowledge is lost.

Heinlein

Please note: The earlier a person learns about money making the better s/he is likely to be – financially – over time, in life.

Without money, very little works in today’s world.

And it’s important to know that being academically brilliant will not make you good at making money – because schools do NOT teach money making.

How many of your teachers were RICH in the real “money” sense of the word?

If going to school made people rich, schoolteachers would be millionaires.” – Robert Kiyosaki

Your best bet therefore is to DEVELOP the ability to reliably make money by yourself, to meet ANY needs you have, anytime you want.

Robert Kiyosaki calls it BEING ABLE TO PRINT YOUR OWN MONEY.

In case you wonder, I’ve been reading Mr. Kiyosaki’s books since 2000 – and have ADAPTED lots his ideas to suit my unique needs in the peculiar socioeconomic environment of my primary target market in Africa.

The Current Situation

The skills required for personal survival and financial success have changed from what obtained decades ago.

Back then all you needed was to go to school, get good grades and land a good job, with good benefits and you were literally made.

Today, such opportunities are getting harder to find by the day, while more and more people with good grades are joining the hunt for them each year!

But at the same time, in today’s technology enhanced world, we see proof that anyone – with minimal schooling – who can quickly acquire new skills to create/add tangible VALUE that others gladly pay him/her for can become financially successful.

The Problem

Sadly, many people today, continue to send kids to school to get education that prepares them for the world that existed decades ago in which graduates aimed for employment in factories/industries.

As a result their kids undergo formal schooling (aka academic/knowledge based education), but do not have life/survival skills when they graduate.

“It’s only after you have left school and, in adulthood, gained a bit of distance, that you can be fully aware of the gaps in your education.” – Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett in this excellent article.

How I got my wake up call.

1. I graduated top of my class with a degree in Agric. Extension

2. Then I got into paid employment with a multinational brewer as a Graduate Trainee where I saw hands on competence mattered more for success than certificates.

3. Then I quit paid employment to run my own business in the real world (aka University of Hard Knocks)…where I repeatedly saw people with less formal education than mine get AHEAD of me – some mocking me.

It took me many years of perseverance and self-education to LEARN how to survive in the real world.

But I gradually learnt how to do it – by developing my own unique combination of skills to solve real life problems for others.

Today I use self-taught spreadsheet programming and web marketing/freelance writing skills to deliver custom Excel-VB spreadsheet software as well as a growing range in multidisciplinary information products – in addition to other unique solutions that earn me repeat income from clients locally and internationally.

…in case you missed it, I DID NOT LEARN TO DO ANY OF THAT IN UNIVERSITY!

ONE BIG LESSON I LEARNED is that “Education differs from Schooling:

The truly educated person knows how to apply knowledge s/he acquires to achieve a useful end that others value enough to pay him/her profitably for.

This is why Henry Ford was described as a man of education despite the fact that he had no formal schooling. He employed the greatest engineering minds and made them work together to achieve the feat of building the automobile engine for a car that could be purchased by the masses – even though they had all told him it was impossible!

The Alternative Education Model i Propose for Adoption by Smart Thinking Parents Who Love Their Kids

Today I recommend parents design custom education for their kids that combines DAILY Formal Schooling with Real World Relevant Life Skills Acquisition Training

This is what I am doing for my kids.

I’m exposing them to academic education combined with practical, real world relevant skills based education.

And I insist on as close to 50:50 content as possible i.e. 50% academics versus 50% practical vocational skills training content.

[RELATED] Is Your Child Learning For School Or For Life?

What standards of success are you setting for him/her?

PII 183: FREE DOWNLOAD – Rabbit Farming Literature and Livestock Feed Formulation Information You Need to Succeed [4 ZIPPED FOLDERS – 24MB]

If you’ve been following my writing on Best Practice Farm Business Management for a while, chances are good that you know I strongly advocate adoption of Integrated Farming – especially one that includes both Rabbit and Catfish farming by Farm business here in Nigeria/Africa especially.

Why?

Because integrated farming enables you achieve multiple streams of income via a diversified range of farm based products (and even services) you can offer.

In addition, it gives you multiple opportunities to use by-products on aspect of your integrated farm enterprise as input in anther aspect – rather than having to throw it away as waste.

A good example is the use of Rabbits droppings for making feed for fish etc.

Also the urine for rabbit is highly valued and widely used as a nature friendly and very potent soil fertilizer due to its richness in NPK – Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium – key active ingredients required for fertilizing the soil, but without the negative impact of chemicals that happens when chemical fertilizers are used.

If you have not watched the trailer video I published in my YouTube channel showcasing real life Rabbit Farm CEOs discussing their experiences succeeding in Commercial Rabbit Farming, click the link below to watch NOW in my YouTube Channel.

[BPP-PhotoStory] Sisters-With-Skills: A Day Out With 2 Multi-Skilled Sisters (13 and 10 years old) Who Combine DAILY Formal Schooling With Vocational Skills Training

[UPDATE at 7.00p.m 27/11/2019]: Removed “Fri” from list of days the girls attend Hairstyling training. They actually rest on Tuesdays and Fridays. BUT if they miss their normal days, they have to make it up by going to work on those rest days. Also added 2 new articles – see items 18 and 19]

LAGOS- NIGERIA @12 Noon, Wednesday 27th November 2019: Photo-Story – Yesterday (Tuesday, 26th November 2019), I took my girls (13 and 10 years old) out to lunch – picked them up from school with a change of clothes. The ten photos below describe how we spent our day.

By way of interest, the 13 year old recently got selected by the school administration to represent them in a Hair-styling Competition where she will also teach other kids.

The girl has been excited – understandably. She came to tell me 2 days ago, asking for money to buy the attachments and other stuff she’s been told will be required at the event.

I’m super excited too, because I know this opportunity will cement their interest in the vocation.

It all seems like yesterday, but they’ve actually been apprenticing now for over 2 years, starting back in 2017, when they attended a 2 week long intensive Vocational Skills Training on Cosmetic Make Up and Gele Tying, after which they chose to have me enroll them for hair-styling training at Mushin.

Graduation Day at the 2 week Cosmetic Makeup and Gele Tying Workshop [Re: Empower Your Daughter to be Her Own Boss With Minimal Resources Via Vocation She Can Build on to Excel]

A year later they enrolled to apprentice at another stylist’s shop closer home.

The rest is history – as they are now competent doing various styles – and take turns to work on each others hair to do whatever hairstyle their school announce for each week.

Their boss recently told me the older girl is now able to take on paying customers without supervision.

Here we were getting close to our destination, then I remembered I wanted photos of them wearing these African prints I bought for them on Victoria Island,on my way to the Immigration (Passport) Office at Ikoyi.

Selfie at the same landmark as in Photo 1 of 10. They still did not know where I was taking them. A busy school day had them looking a bit tired. By the time we got to our destination, they came alive…and I teased them about it…LOL!

So here, they’re about to place their order inside a Domino’s Handmade Pizza outlet at Ogba. Before we arrived here though, we’d actually stopped over for about 30 minutes at a Shoe-making Training School within the same area, where I had discussions with the CEO about available courses.

In this photo they are paying much closer attention to the choices described on the menu…after I made it clear to them that I would NOT be helping them make sense of it. Instead I challenged them to imagine I was not there and get the sales attendant to clarify any aspects they did not understand.

Here they review entries for the order they placed, as well as the POS payment made using my card on the auto printed slips handed to them by the sales attendant. I actually insisted they study both printouts and asked them questions to be sure they understood them as well as the debit alert to my phone.

It’s been a while since I last gave them this kind of treat. This time around it was an opportunity for me to REWARD them for sticking with the intensive regimen of combining schooling (8a.m to 2.30p.m) with Hairstyling Training (4.30p.m to 7.30p.m on Mon, Wed & Thur + 10.30a.m to 7p.m on Saturday).

We chatted about the choices on the menu…and tried to analyze the price paid based on what they were given. They chose a MEDIUM PIZZA that came with FREE FRENCH FRIES and one bottle of FREE DRINK. I asked if they wanted to buy an extra bottle. They declined. I learned why later!

I requested the help of a gentleman sitting at a table next to us. The bright lighting made it quite hard to take good photos. I knew this from taking the first set of photos. Our friend had to change positions quite a bit like I did, to get the best shots.

Well, the smart young ladies waited till we left Dominos and had stopped at Chicken Republic to buy a take-away pack of jollof rice, moin moin and fried chicken for their 5 year old brother, Then they got me to buy them snacks worth 2 bottles LOL!

The gentleman I approached to help us take the p;hotos did a great job taking multiple shots from different angles,to minimize negative impact on bright lighting coming through. FYI: We tried using my Life Book on their FREE WIFi but got a browser message: ONLY MOBILE DEVICES ALLOWED.

[RECOMMENDED] Incredible Story of Professor Andrew Haruna: Vice-Chancellor of FUGA and Former Shoemaker

I came across the interesting story of a Vice-Chancellor who started out in life as a Shoemaker and was naturally drawn in to read more (Who wouldn’t be?)

I must say though that the full article is a bit lacking for depth (rather sketchy details), but the moral of the true story is still compelling.

Which is why I shared it to my wall on Facebook.

futo

But I made the point in my Facebook post, about a massive opportunity the Shoemaker-turned-VC is missing to use his achievement to influence a badly needed modification of the Learning Solutions Menu on offer in the University System. Read my comments below:

“Great achievement. But why BE CALLED FORMER SHOEMAKER?

If I were in his shoes, I would have employed few reliable hands to take my shoemaking business to the next level.

This argument becomes easy to relate with when one considers the
GLARING FACT that increasingly larger numbers of “graduates” unable to find work years after leaving school are enrolling in footwear making (and other vocational) schools springing up

Take it from me. Just last week I was in the office of the CEO of a popular footwear making training school – who told me he quit paid employment as a Chartered Accountant with a firm to focus on his shoemaking business because he discovered he earned more than twice his salary.

More significantly, he noted that over 95% of people he trains in his bags and shoemaking school are graduates who got tired of looking for jobs…or of doing jobs that did not reward them satisfactorily – especially in terms of what they earned.

It is therefore my considered opinion that this Shoemaker-turned-Professor is missing a MASSIVE opportunity to change the narrative of University education as it relates to its real-world-relevance.

Indeed if he is smart, he will setup a shoemaking course (or even a Faculty of Practical Vocational Studies) that his university’s students will be encouraged to enroll in.

It’s amazing that this opportunity could have been missed by him – and those who saw him evolve to become who he is today!!!”

“As National (Rabbit) Council, we’ve been saying for the last 12 to 15 odd years, that Rabbit has the potential of being the saviour of Africa, from protein point of view. The reasons behind that are a multitude…

1. Rabbit meat is high in protein and low in Cholesterol

2. They take up little space and don’t eat much.

3. They require less water than chickens and put out less waste than cows.

4. Rabbit Grgurin says, may be the greenest meat (yields minimal carbon footprint compared to other livestock – especially feedlot-ing of animals on large scale).

5. They are prolific breeders.

While a student in the University, I’d operated a micro rabbit farm business in the backyard of my parents’ Lagos-Gbagada home.

Today, I’m keen to get my farm CEO clients and those aspiring, to see Commercial Rabbit farm business as the worthwhile venture that it really is. A quick google search on the web will show that the awareness of this lucrative venture has grown a lot in Africa.

I only came across this video few months ago. But I csn tell you that as a relentlessly diligent student of authentic success achievement, I have LIVED my life based on the philosophy advocated for adoption by the speakers for decades.

During that time I evolved my understanding of it to repeatedly succeed at higher levels, even (and ESPECIALLY!) when people told me I could NOT – both within and outside paid employment.

And THAT is why I find this video’s message worthy of being transcribed from audio to written form. I believe more people need access to the message in as many forms as possible. Indeed for those who may lack the resources to watch the video, this PDF version offers them a viable alternative to accessing what is a truly empowering presentation.

Below, I offer download link to the PDF text transcript version I’ve prepared of the audio message contained in a powerfully motivational viral 6:19” video (over 54 million views on YouTube – see below) titled “DREAM” – “From Mateusz M”

Download a mobile friendly (22MB) MP4 version of the video along with my PDF verbatim text transcript version from www.tinyurl.com/lyd2019

Here’s an excerpt from the PDF transcript version:

Someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality.
That you don’t have to go through life being a victim.
And even though you face disappointments, you have to know within yourself that “I can do this. Even if no one else sees it for me, I must see it for myself.
“This is what I believe, AND I’m willing to die for it. Period.”
No matter how bad it is, or how bad it gets, I’m going to make it.

The URGENT Need to Support Male Victims of Domestic Abuse [EVENT: 7th National Conference on Male Victims of Domestic Abuse – Thur. 14th Nov. 2019, Mercure Bristol Holland House Hotel, Redcliffe Hill,Bristol, BS1 6SQ United Kingdom | Organized by Mankind.org (Mankind Initiative)]

The narrative of Domestic Violence has changed a lot in recent years.

Statistics reported by Lagos State’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team (DSVRT) clearly show alarming increases in male victims reporting domestic abuse at the hands of their female partners.

Considering the fact that men often shy away from reporting, the actual statistics are likely to be even more worrying. This means many more men are suffering in silence in their homes etc – and they have nowhere to go for help!

Over the past 3 years, and especially in the last 6 months, I have come to the painful realization that existing support systems in Nigeria, will continue to be skewed towards female victims of Domestic Violence (e.g Notice image and examples on the foregoing linked page ALL refer to male abusers!).

Abusive females know this and exploit it to make the lives of their male partners a living hell.

Most harmful is the ridiculous stereotype which makes people, including social workers insinuate that “he must have done something horrible to her, to make her do what she did. So he most likely deserved it”

This is very wrong and often not true. I say this based on my personal experiences as a survivor and observation of other victims.

With few exceptions I got the usual treatment everywhere I went for help. The DSVRT did what they could and I got useful relief for a while but it was not enough.

I realized others may not have my kind of resilience and would need more robust support systems.

So I launched my Facebook Advocacy page to share true stories, tips and strategies etc.

Read [DVAM] Domestic Violence Against Men by Toyin Omoniyi (TyLegal) – NairaLand.com & PraiseWorldradio.com: This excellent article by Toyin – a female Nigerian lawyer – accurately captured the key aspects of Domestic Violence I had come to be aware of. That’s why I used bullet point excerpts from it, to highlight examples of abuse on the cover photo for my page.

I also began researching both locally and internationally to see the statistics and other information about trends in DV reporting.

Last year (2018), I discovered the work being done by Mankind Initiative to support Male victims of DV in the UK and was inspired to learn that one of the founders was himself a male survivor of DV.

That made me resolve to launch a similar support service for victims out here.

Mankind Initiative have coming up next month, an event I really believe needs to be organized in ALL societies across the world, especially where men are becoming more victimized. The fact that the conference is in its 7th year, in my view, indicates that stakeholders interest has been sustainable, and that means REAL PROBLEMS are being solved!

National Annual Conference

Details of my tentative plans are to be announced.

For now, I would say this conference linked above is one of the kinds of events I hope to challenge stakeholders to participate in and, at some point even organize as well.

Male victims and their kids will benefit greatly as a result.
