The minute you take that decision to pursue a worthy goal(defined as one that majority would rather avoid, for fear of failure etc), you immediately become prone to being used as the butt end of jokes by those you consider to be your friends, relatives etc. Many people find they cannot stand the scrutiny, and humiliation that comes with trying to do what no one has (or few people have) ever done before.
