Why You Need To Develop A Healthy Respect For Money

Back in paid employment, I was, like many of my co-workers, used to having my salary paid to me in bulk at the month end (almost without fail). I never really understood what it meant to EARN the money that came to me.

Now, don’t get me wrong.

I am not saying that those in paid employment do not EARN the money they are paid.

What I mean is that the fact that they KNOW that their salary will be paid as long as they SHOW UP at work, even if they do not put "stretch" themselves to deliver EXTRA value, makes many salary earners take it for granted.

They get used to expecting to get paid when sometimes they have not even done as much as other colleagues – on the same grade – who go the extra mile.

In contrast, a person who is NOT in paid employment, who works for him/herself, MUST deliver USEFUL VALUE to buyers, commensurate with the monetary payment they make to him/her.

If s/he fails to deliver what is considered adequate/satisfactory value by the client, his/her payment may be delayed – and could end up not being made.

Again, unlike the salaried person s/he MUST actively market his/her products and services to prospective clients to win new paid projects. Otherwise s/he will not be able to earn a decent living!

Simply put, the business person has to constantly search for NEW opportunities to earn regular income compared to the average salary earner.

The latter on the other hand is not under this constant pressure to find NEW income sources for as long as his/her job is "safe".

And this is what leads some people in paid employment – especially those who earn fat income – develop what is called a "LOVE of EASE" that makes them fail to nurture a healthy respect for money.

They get used to having it come too easily into their hands. They rarely have to stretch themselves to get it.

And they hardly ever experience anything close to a LACK of it – something that many people in business, especially start-ups usually have to learn to deal with before they stabilize in their business operations.

The above also helps us understand why business persons tend to be more sensitive to/cautious about spending money.

They are constantly monitoring the channels through which money flows OUT of their hands/pockets. And they will often develop strategies to SLOW down the outflow or cut it off completely where possible, in order to be more profitable. Interpreted as having MORE money left over to spend for themselves.

A notable exception to this of course is the business person who cuts corners and earns income through crooked means.

S/he will rarely be bothered about watching his/her spending being assured that MORE unearned income can always be obtained using the same methods.

But, you already know that THIS article is NOT about such people. There is nothing to learn from them :-))

As a business person, the need to work actively to ADD value to others in order to EARN profitable income, has over time taught me to have great respect for money, so that I can KEEP more of it for my use.

Here are two experience-based ways in which I show respect for money, and which I believe others could learn to do:

1. I treat ALL my profitable paying clients with consideration/respect regardless of the size of business they have done – or say they will do – with me.

When ANY of them call me for support, I respond professionally and ensure I SOLVE their problems to their satisfaction – ELSE I do NOT leave! Their signatures on many pages of my Client Support/Problem Resolution Log Sheets provide ample evidence to support my claims.

It also explains why they not only gladly pay my bills to cover the expenses I incur in providing support, but ALSO why they give me repeat business and even referrals.

2. I build and sell software products that appeal to virtually all segments of the market I serve – especially in terms of affordability.

In other words, I do NOT think or believe any segment offers business returns that are too small to profit from.

My experience with my Income & Expense Manager application (which has been widely accepted by paying customers in various industries) is proof of this. Marketing to low budget market audiences offers HUGE profit rewards for the customer-focused developer who has a TRUE passion for his work.

S/he only needs to aim for high sales volumes to records impressive profit margins in a short period – like I have done.

Many people just LOVE having money to spend.

They do not have RESPECT for it.

People who have respect for money SHOW IT in the way they are thoughtful and painstaking in planning to use it to get the things they want and NEED.

They invest it in acquiring assets that ensure they can get more of it.

Such assets include shares, property and of course NEW money making skills and knowledge.

Signs That Suggest You Lack Respect For Money

1. You readily accept the first price you are give for an item you wish to purchase without checking to see (via negotiation) if a better bargain could be had. Some people do this because they feel a need to impress others with them. As we say out here…"they want to do Big Man!":-)

2. You spend/buy things because you see others do so, and not because you really need them.

3. You do not keep written records of your expenses. You do not review them with a view to tracking your spending against a budget limit for instance.

4. You often engage in impulsive/unplanned spending.People for instance find it easy to get money off you, by springing requests of all kinds on you. And you feel pressured to indulge them because you don’t want to be called "stingy".

With respect to this last point, I want you to think of yourself as being FRUGAL when you choose to mentally check yourself from letting money leave your hands without THINKING carefully about WHY and for WHAT you want to let it go.

It does not matter how rich or wealthy you think you are.

Having respect for money can only help you STAY rich (or get richer), and for those aspiring, it WILL equip them to get there faster.

Sadly, in this society, I continue to see (and hear from) many former paid employment colleagues and current associates demonstrate an alarming LACK of respect for money.

In my opinion, based on the knowledge I have of many of them, they behave in this manner because of the very wrong belief they have that being conscious of their spending for instance would suggest to others that they do not have enough money!

But I ask: What does it matter if others THINK you don’t have much money?

After all the fact that they think so, cannot make you have less money than you actually DO have!

If only those afflicted with this obsessive need to be SEEN to be well off would understand the aforementioned simple truth, and STOP living their lives trying to meet other people’s (moving target) standards/expectations.

Here’s an admonition…

Think of your children at least, and begin to imagine how your spending habits can make or mar their futures.

If the way they see you TREAT money helps them learn to ALWAYS THINK/be painstaking in planning their OWN spending, then they will be more likely to grow up equipped to become wealthy as adults.

Doing the above will also prepare your kids to maintain the riches/wealth you pass on to them.

Which brings me to my final point

Do you have ANY thing TODAY worth passing on to your kids as a form of valuable inheritance they can build on?

Remember that your wonderful job with all its attractive benefits in that blue-chip company is NOT something you can will over to your child. At the risk of stating the obvious, I want to point out that it is NOT yours!

Therefore, except you own the company, you cannot RESERVE that prestigious job title, position, car etc for your child!
One therefore hopes that’s NOT all you have…but if it is, it’s not too late.

You can begin to plan to do something OUTSIDE your salaried job to insure your kids have a bright future.

It goes without saying therefore, that you will need to start by developing a healthy respect for money. Make sure from now on that you can account for every kobo you spend – and make sure every expenditure adds value to your life, and the lives of those you care for, now and into the future.

The Cheapest, Most Reliable Way to Find Buyers (Hint: It’s NOT What You Think)

The first issue of my Self-Development Digest newsletter was published on Mon 5th Jun 2006. Six years later, in June 2012, it evolved into what is today my popular DAILY multidisciplinary Self-Development (SD) Nuggets blog, on which I publish my Monday Speaking IDEAS newsletter.

Truth is, it takes UNDILUTED passion to keep going, day, month and year after year …after year(!), doing something of this sort anywhere, especially as a Nigerian/African, living and working IN Nigeria/Africa!.

Many who start newsletters (online or off) often fail to keep it going this long.

I mean here in Nigeria/Africa. Visit many Nigerian/African owned personal and business web sites, and you will see what I mean.

Many times, the newsletter issue available for viewing is rarely a current one. If at all there is one on offer. Indeed you may find mostly stale and static content!

Why is this so?

Well, it’s the mental attitude of our people.

We are too focused on getting the benefits FIRST. We want the results we desire to come quickly.

And if they don’t, we begin to discontinue any tasks or activities we feel cost us too much time, effort or money compared to whatever benefits they bring us.

The first to go will often be stuff that has to do with our GIVING of ourselves (e.g. newsletters/articles), without being sure of any returns from others.

What those who quit in this manner fail to realize…

…is that most times a little persistence, and diligent refining of our methods and strategies will lead to the results we want.

I am living proof that this is so.

My emails (and phone data) subscriber database keeps growing. And I keep getting surprised by the “increasing profiles” of those who choose to join.

More and more Nigerian professionals, corporate executives and CEOs subscribe to my newsletters.

In the early years, I only had people from South Africa, America, Ghana, Cameroon, Singapore, China etc. Today, I even get enquiries from Iran, Iraq, Barbados, and Saudi Arabia (A Nigerian IT expert who works in a high profile position with a government establishment).

But that’s not all – many now get back to me, and buy my products, PLUS refer my work to others.

As a result, I have discovered online discussion forums referring to my products and web sites, and seen traffic coming my way as a result.

Most importantly, people now readily make payments for different products and services I promote via my web site. It’s so great to see people willing to take such huge leaps of faith – sending money into my account, and then WAITING for 24 to 72 hours to get emails carrying my spreadsheet software, PDF user guides etc that they paid for.

There must be something I know – that others who say it does not work DON’T!

[NB: I should add here that most of what I say here is with regard to my spontaneousdevelopment.com

I refer to my former 9 year old primary domain that I lost on 4th May 2014.

Having said that, within less than a month of that happening, I moved – and refocused my content – on to tayosolagbade.com, drawing on what I learnt over they years, about my sales leads sources..

And it’s really paid off.

My web site conversation ratio has basically increased more than 3 fold today justifying my decision to NOT buy back my old domain from those who took it over.

It also validates my argument that domain names are NO LONGER as crucial to web marketing success as the QUALITY of web marketing content one turns out!

Do you need to get word out about yourself/what you do to others?

I urge you to start your own web based newsletter today.

Make sure you have a professional mailing list management software (I use a FREE one, that is extremely powerful) to send it out to subscribers, (and to sign them up).

Actually, you’ll also do well to run a blog – branded to subtly “sell” you (or your products/services) to your target audience.

In fact, to really get good value for your money or time, your best bet is to develop and implement a custom Web Marketing System(WMS).

I say that based on my decade long experience using the Internet to find buyers.

That will costs almost nothing, in the long term, when compared to what you spend using traditional marketing and advertising media e.g. TV, Radio, and Print.

For instance, apart from saving you lots of time, effort and money, a WMS will keep working even while you’re sleeping, attracting potential buyers via search engines and other channels.

This way you get a regular stream of sales leads naturally generated without your raising a finger.

I estimate that I close over 80% of such leads that come my way. And easily too.

How come?

Well, it’s because my WMS will often have done the hard job of “educating and convincing” them that I have what they need, BEFORE they contact me. Indeed THAT is why they go out of their way to contact me.

As a result, they typically come to me one or two steps away from buying!

3 typical questions they ask me are:

(a). How much is it?

(b). How do I pay

…and…

(c). How do I get it, after I pay.

Would it not be wonderful if you also had a system that so prepared buyers that they came to you READY to do business?

A system that helps you screen out those time wasters who are just curious?

I bet you would LOVE to have such a system in place, working for you 24/7 – like it does for me!

A WMS can get you such tangible results – and at low to zero cost – forever.

To learn more about how I can develop and implement such a WMS for you, email me via tayo at tksola dot com or fill/submit this form.

No. 145: A Few People Can Make Life NEEDLESSLY Miserable for Many, IF Not Called to Order (Case Study: My Experiences at the Nigeria-Benin Republic Seme Border)

[NB: This issue of my newsletter is a public service edition.] Last Saturday a.m (7th June 2014), I published a blog about my near 12 hour traffic jam ordeal coming from Seme border to Mile 2 the day before (i.e Friday).

What I did not mention was that before that, I’d had unpleasant money-related “disagreements” with BOTH Beninese and Nigerian officials in crossing the border posts.

I Share My Experiences Below, to Warn Intending Travellers About What to Expect….

For over a year, since 1st April 2013, when I relocated to Benin, I’d crossed the border paying N200 at the Benin end to have my passport stamped, and N100 at the Nigerian end.

Yet a few weeks ago – on Sunday 25th May 2014 to be specific – the Beninese official responsible for stamping passports out told me to pay N500!

Surprised, I asked why. He said “C’est comme ça!” When I insisted that I’d always paid N200, he flung my passport at me and bluntly told me if I wanted I could leave without stamping my passport.

He then proceed to pointedly ignore me as I called out to him to at least tell me why.

Another Nigerian I met there lashed out verbally at him as he collected his stamped passport, saying “God will take that money back from you!”

I walked over to 2 armed uniformed officers next to the post, who looked senior to him and complained. They laughed in my face and told me to do whatever the other man told me.

One of them said today, you pay N500, but tomorrow we may ask you to go through without paying anything.

When I told him it made no sense, he angrily asked to move away from their end.

I called a senior officer I knew worked at the Nigerian embassy (in Cotonou) on his mobile line to protest about the treatment I was getting.

He sympathised with me, saying “It’s a pity they are doing that. It’s not supposed to happen.”

At that point I realised I had no choice but to pay up. So I did, making my displeasure clear from the way I snatched my stamped passport from the Beninese officer when he was done.

Still fuming, I arrived at the Nigerian end, and promptly expressed outrage at what had happened to me. The officer there casually told me to go to the Commissaire, if I felt that aggrieved.

Then he held out his hand and said “N100”.

That was what I’d always paid

(NB: It is instructive to note, that I’ve been told by embassy personnel and a lawyer client/friend that we are NOT even supposed to pay anything to get our passports stamped!)

I told myself, at least things were still normal at our end. As for going to the Beninese Commissaire, I decided I did not have the time to spare, since I was running late.

On my return from Nigeria, I got my passport stamped without eventualities. And I paid the normal N100 at the Nigerian end, and N200 at the Benin end.

I told the officials at the Benin check in post about the conduct of their colleague on the day I left the country. The lady officer apologised soberly to me, and asked me to forget it.

So I put it behind me.

But today, the nonsense not only came back, but it also began MUCH earlier – and with extra!

It began even before I got to the passport check-out post…

This was right at the first check point. The Beninese police officer after checking and seeing my passport was in order, asked me for money. I smiling told him I had nothing to give him.

He looked me over, and pointed to my travel bag saying he wanted to see its contents. I opened it up, and he checked. Finding nothing, he indicated my backpack. Same thing. Nothing.

Then he took my “Small Notebook Speaker” box and asked for the receipt.

I laughed in his face and old him he knew quite well that I did not need to carry a receipt for such an item on me.

His countenance showed he did not like my smart ass attitude of having an answer for everything he’d said to me. You see, even as we spoke, I could see my fellow country men being “shaken down” by his colleagues.

And in most cases those ones readily parted with as much as N500, at the slightest request. Now, one would imagine that was either because they were not well informed of their rights, or their travel documents were not in order.

But I actually saw well dressed, well spoken and reasonably schooled people giving in to the “harassment”.

Basically, the mentality of many Nigerians is that they are too busy to let a demand for a few hundred nairas DELAY them.

And so, those intending to get money off them simply play on that mentality.

Hold them back for the flimsiest of reasons, and even when they know they are not at fault, they’ll give you more or less what you ask.

Back to my uniformed friend. After I told him I did not need to show a receipt for my speakers, he went further to say “Now you’ll also have to produce a receipt for the laptop in your backpack”.

Once again, I made a point of laughing. Then I asked him if he would have asked me for a laptop receipt if I’d bought it online using my debit card. He looked at me in annoyance – I sensed he did not even understand what I’d said, but he knew it was something he could not contest.

By this time I was losing my patience. I told him I was going to call a senior officer at the Nigerian Embassy, where I was well known to tell him what I was being subjected to at the border.

As I made to pull out my mobile phone from my pockets, he angrily pushed my hand away, and said “This is my post. You cannot make a phone call here.”

That was of course not true…

But this guy carried a rifle that looked well maintained, compared to those I’d seen with his counterparts in Nigeria. So, I had the feeling it worked quite well.

Since he was this crooked already, I realised desperation could make him resort to doing something crazy.

He said “Look, it’s the way you talk that determines how I feel about letting you go. “

Then he smiled…as if to defuse the tension between us. He knew I was not going to give in.

So I smiled back, and asked him what he wanted to do…:-))

Seconds later, he handed me the speaker and I tapped him on the shoulder saying “A la prochaine mon frère!” (See you another time my brother!).

Getting to the Beninese Passport Stamping Out Post…

The same funny character from few weeks back, who’d asked for N500, was there. And he took one look at my passport and said “N500”.

I was expecting no less.

Paying up, I walked down to the Nigerian immigration stamp out section.

As the uniformed immigration officer recorded my passport details, he asked “How are you Sir?”

Before I could stop myself, my frustration came to the surface, and I said “Actually, I’m not fine at all!”

He looked up in surprise at me and asked what the problem was. I told him what I’d gone through at the Benin end.

Then I asked him why they could not stop their French speaking colleagues from subjecting law abiding Nigerian travellers to such harassment daily.

He shook his head sympathetically, and said “If you feel that strongly about it, just go to their Commissaire over there (pointing to the left of where I stood), and make a formal report.

Then he said “N200”. I felt like someone poured a bucket of cold water on my head.

I said “N200? But I always pay N100 at this end…”

He replied simply by stretching out his hand and saying “N200”.

Sighing, I gave him the money. Then I made to walk out, only to be called by anther officer seated just before the exit. He had a large register opened in front of him, into which passport details were entered.

He took my passport and said “N200”.

This time I almost exploded. I said “What this N200 for again? I’ve never paid twice before, in over a year of stamping out at this end! Can you please explain to me why I have to pay again?”

As soon as I said this, he looked me over and said “Take. It’s okay. You can go.”

I said “Look. I don’t mind paying, but I just want to know what I am paying for, because it’s never happened before. Can’t you just let us know what to expect?

Is there not some standard we can work with?”

Now impatient, he replied “Look I said if you don’t want to pay, just go with your trouble. Haba!”

As he said this, I heard another man who just came in telling the officer I was earlier with “No. How can I pay N500 to stamp my passport? What for?

I’m coming all the way from Cote D’Ivoire. You don’t even know how much money I have on me. How can you just tell me to pay such an amount. I’ve never paid such before, and I am not going to pay it today!” he finished, fuming.

And so I left, and soon arrived at the motor park, where I joined a Taxi, which after getting 2 other passengers took off for Lagos around 5.00 p.m.

If you think my ordeal ended there, think again.

I did not get to my home until well after midnight. Click here to read full details of how we got stuck in a crazy traffic jam for over 10 hours.

Why I Choose to Write About My Seme Border Experiences…

My purpose is simple. If what I continue to experience along with other travellers on both sides of the Nigeria-Benin border is in line with official procedures, announcing it here should bother no one.

However, I have also travelled across the Aflao border to Ghana, from Nigeria, just as I have crossed the Nigerian-Cameroon border in the past. At no time did I make ANY of my trips without valid papers. Yet, during my trips I never had an experience of that sort with ANYONE – uniformed or otherwise.

If what’s going on there is however NOT supposed to happen, my hope is that highlighting it like I’ve done here can bring it to the attention of those who can do something about it.

It’s possible writing about all this can get me some negative attention from those I talk about…and/or “others”…

The truth is however that I fear no one and nothing – except my Creator.

So, anyone who has a problem with my truth telling can take ANY action s/he pleases.

I am 100% certain that nothing the Creator has not consented to, can happen to me as I do his will.

Period.

It’s So Sad That Nigerians, and Some Africans Persist In Unedifying Acts

Interestingly, one of the Beninese officers in uniform at the border last year asked me if I was “Jesus Christ” when he tried to make me pay more than N200 to “stamp in”, and I asked why.

He said I was acting as if I did not know that it happened all over Africa!

Arm twisting others to get money, in what has become a vicious cycle, is more or less a way of life in Nigeria.

Some of Nigeria’s neighbours who are not disciplined, “catch the bug” from years of prolonged contact.

That appears to be what’s happening at Seme border. The Beninese guys there, in my opinion have learnt bad habits from their Nigerian counterparts. Contact with them can give a VERY wrong impression about what people in Benin Republic are really like.

You see, I’ve lived in Benin Republic for over a year now. They are not perfect, but random daylight harassment and extortion does NOT happen in that country. I live AMONGST these people, and I find them VERY humane – a huge contrast to Nigerians!

In this regard, it might also interest you to know that the Beninese officials do NOT subject, Beninese citizens (their people) who cross the border to the treatment they give to Nigerians!

As you arrive at their post, if they are not sure of your nationality, they start by asking “Vous êtes Beninois?” Your response then determines how you are “treated”.

I’ve seen this many times. They apparently have taken a cue from the way our own officials extort money from us, before we get to them.

Plus, many Nigerians are often so ready to just “pay” when asked, without asking questions!

Apart from the needless daily abuse they subject people to, their actions also stifle trade and commerce…

And that’s having serious negative effects on regional economic development.

I’ll end by stating the obvious fact, that if leaders of both countries really want faster progress, they will take pains to eliminate the nonsense happening at the Seme border immediately!

Treat People As Though They Were What They Ought To Be (A Management Tip from Johann Von Goethe)

The fact that THAT man or woman is sweeping floors today in your company today, does not mean s/he cannot be the owner of a successful business tomorrow. Actually, s/he could one day become YOUR boss, or indeed the CEO of the company you work for! Countless examples abound!!

Where I come from (Nigeria) people like to say “No condition is permanent”.

History has proven this to be so, many times over.

But some people just refuse to stop judging the ability or competence of others by their looks or appearances.

The fail to realise that it’s what appears on the surface may not accurately represent what lies below it. They fail to avoid being superficial in their thinking.

In case you wonder how this habit/tendency constitutes a problem…

Consider the possibility that a person(s) fond of judging people by outward appearances, are chosen to handle selection of a new set of Graduate Trainees into your company…

Or maybe in your local council, they are to select “youthful talents” to represent the state in some competitive sporting events.

What is likely to happen is that the initial screening stages would be characterised by random assumptions being made about the abilities of the boys and girls who show up or apply – based on how they “look”.

Among other possibilities, a cross-eyed person would be regarded as “potentially dishonest”…even though s/he may have been born that way!

This could result in non-inclusion of some uniquely talented youngsters whose “looks” or unusual style do not impress the “officials”.

If the “problem” is not immediately apparent to you, let me use some notables historical examples to illustrate:

a. We are told that Julius Caesar was an epileptic, yet his name remains etched in history till this day

b. Charles Dickens was lame, but that did not stop him from becoming a successful author

c. Plato was a hunchback, yet today many of us find it apt to quote him on various subjects that he chose to comment on.

d. Collin Powell started as a floor mopper but is today retired having served in one of the most exalted positions in the American Armed Forces and Government.

e. And then there is the story of Helen (in my opinion “Superwoman”) Keller, who was supposed to be multiply handicapped and yet recorded MORE achievements than most “normal” people!

The list goes on – underscoring the fact that people can overcome their (seeming) outward limitations to succeed in ways NOT expected by those who see them.

Maybe I should bring it even closer home.

If YOU were asked to pick from a group of ten(10) people, one person who looks like an International athletics champion…

a. Wwould you pick a skinny, frail looking guy with (seemingly) sunken eyes (which incidentally is the typical appearance of many world champion class long distance runners)

b. Or would you choose the fierce/aggressive looking guy with rippling muscles(a description befitting most short distance/sprint athletes)?

At the risk of sounding presumptuous, I want to say that I am reasonably certain that MANY people would pick someone fitting the latter description!

People generally assume a muscular, person to be more capable of achievment than a slim/skinny looking person – who may NOT necessarily be weak!

That’s why in real life, few sports persons in the sprints can boast of having the phenomenal endurance and stamina possessed and displayed during races by long distance runners.

To those of us who are uninitiated, they however seldom look the part at first glance.

It is only when they demonstrate their innate abilities on the tracks or field that we recognise their genius and THEN begin to believe!

“Genius does not show itself on a person’s face so that others can see it and then respect or recognise him/her for it. That’s why we must NEVER write people off without FIRST (and as often as possible afterward) giving them a FAIR and IMPARTIAL opportunity to SHOW what they can do” – Tayo K. Solagbade

Just as it is with sports, so it is in life.

Sadly, most of us are often initially unwilling to give others a chance, because their “looks” or appearances suggest they CANNOT. As a result, some unlikely geniuses who come our way get sidetracked by our “screening” panels.

Just imagine what would have happened if Helen Keller had never been given a chance to excel like she did. Our world would NOT have enjoyed the blessing of her talents like it has!

We need to learn to stop using people’s outward appearances to JUDGE what they can or cannot do.

It would be so much better – for us, those we assess, and the rest of society – if we focus on “teasing” out people’s FULL potentials so we can draw accurate assessments of the value they can add to us at any point in time.

The following quote, by a very wise man, provides a fitting end to this piece:

“Treat people as though they were what they ought to be, and you help them become what they’re capable of being” – Johann Von Goethe

Problem Solving Content, NOT Domain Names, Determine Web Marketing Success (Plus: FAQs About My Excel-VB Poultry Farm Manager Software)

In this recent article (click to read) I explained why I believe domain names can no longer determine web marketing performance like they used to. Well, the results I’m getting since losing my 9 year old spontaneousdevelopment.com a month ago, are proving me right!

In less than 4 weeks, I’ve re-built my website and re purposed the content onto my 1 year old domain (tayosolagbade.com), AND my sales leads generation – and conversion – has actually increased!

Maybe if my income has been pay per click based, the story would have been different. I cannot say, since I’ve never sold ads on my website.

Instead, my online presence has always been focused on generating quality SALES leads for my unique range of products and services.

Hint: Careful analysis of the sources of these leads, has given me deeper insights into how to maximize the results I’m getting. Want to know what I discovered? Email me via tayo at tksola dot com.

One product that’s getting even more popular by the day, judging from enquiries I keep getting via email, web form and even Facebook, is my Excel-VB Driven Poultry Farm Manager.

Today, I was in a conversation with a prospect who’d emailed me from Owerri in Nigeria about my popular feed formulation handbook. I’d replied that he call me on my mobile line here in Cotonou (+229-66-122-136), and he’d done that this morning.

Screenshot of email message - Today, I was in a conversation with a prospect who’d emailed me from Owerri in Nigeria about my popular feed formulation handbook - www.tayosolagbade.com

We spoke for over 10 minutes, during which time I learnt that he was rearing about 1000 birds, and wanted help reducing his feeding costs.

Like so many others, he was buying commercial feed, and that was leaving him with next to nothing in profits by the time sales were done.

From my assessment of his understanding of feed formulation, I told him he would be better off  purchasing my handbook (to learn best practice feed formulation and compounding), along with the Ration Formulator software (to put what he learns into practical use).

He agreed, and we discussed prices …etc.

Then he mentioned that he also wanted to be able to measure performance parameters for his birds, like mortality rates etc.

At this point I really began to like the young man. He was really thinking smart.

And that’s something that always excites me. You see, I am keen to connect with business owners who are willing to dig deeper to better understand their operations, so as to get improved results.

I told him that he would find my Poultry Farm Manager app useful for tracking mortality rates and other useful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like Hen Day Percentages, Feeding Rates , Feed to Eggs Conversation Ratio (for layers), as well as Feed to Flesh Conversion Ratio (for broilers).

Incidentally, that was not all we’d talked about…he also wanted to know why I shuttle between two countries (as you probably do too)…

During our conversation, he asked my why I was not based in Nigeria, given what I told him was the heavy patronage I was getting from Farm CEOs in Nigeria.

It was a question many before him had asked me.

Since we were on phone, I went ahead and gave him a brief explanation, that was a summary of what I’ve since written in an published some months back.

In case you also wonder, it’s titled "Why I relocated from Nigeria to Benin Republic"(click to read).

We spoke a little longer about this, just before the connection broke (for the 3rd time – each time he’d called back).

About 5 minutes later a phone text message from him arrived that read as follows:

“Tayo,
I need the (Poultry) Management software. Pls. I will also need clarification on how one can separate broiler chicks from layer chicks after hatching your eggs. Or how can one produce broiler chicks and layer chicks? Thanks for your time."

Here’s the email I sent him in response…

Now, just 24 Hours Earlier, I’d email a detailed response to questions sent in by a Tanzanian poultry farmer about my Poultry Farm Manager software!

Screenshot of email message - Now, just 24 Hours Earlier, Id email a detailed response to questions sent in by a Tanzanian poultry farmer about my Poultry Farm Manager software! - www.tayosolagbade.com

He’d watched the video I put online, and contacted me via the web form on the video page.

Following my initial response, he sent in a series of questions that I believe others may find my answers to useful.

So, here’s a verbatim transcript of the email I sent to the Poultry Farm CEO in Tanzania, yesterday (2nd June 2014)…

====Start of Email Transcript====

Isaac,

1. You asked: How much is the software in dollars?

Answer:

I always refer prospective international buyer to http://www.coinmill.com or http://www.xe.com

See attached screen shot taken some minutes ago, when I converted N25k to USD using www.coinmill.com

It came to $154.32 USD.

If you wanted to check for N250k, that would be a multiple of 10 i.e. $1,543.2 USD

2. You asked: How will I receive the software after payment

Answer:

2 possibilities…

A. I email it to you in a compressed zipped folder (.zip extension)

In the email will be a download link to a PDF user guide, personalized for your use, with your contact details.

B. If you prefer, I could send it to you on a DVD, with the PDF user guide You cover courier delivery feeds. Last time I checked, delivery to Tanzania was N15k via Fed ex

In my opinion, choose this option only if you’d like to pickup another physical product, like my Feed Formulation & Compounding Video Tutorials, Handbook & Software Bundle.

Otherwise the courier expense overhead would be too great.

The decision is however yours to make.

3. You asked: How do I pay?

Three (3) possibilities:

A. Bank transfer to my USD denominated domiciliary account with…

B. Via Western Union

C. <third option removed for privacy. I regard it as a last option as it involves receiving payment via a 3rd party>

4. You asked: any surety with the software that it has been approved to work for both broiler farmers and layer farmers. Looking forward to hear from you.

Answer:

Not sure what you mean by "approved"…

I have never had to get my apps "approved" for use.

Basically, I expect those who come to me to know what they want.

If they don’t I offer guidance about what would be useful to have for best practice purposes.

If they are convinced, they go on to buy.

If they are NOT convinced, we part ways amicably. :-))

Now, if on the other hand, you meant to ask whether my Poultry Farm Manager has been "proven" to work for broilers and layers, here’s my answer. And it is necessarily a bit long:

Isaac, there’s another app I sell to farmers, which is more popular is the Excel-VB Ration Formulator (See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99xm1EQJJdo)

It has been bought and used by buyers within and outside Africa since 2004.

During that time I have actively taken feedback from users who were willing to give it, to improve on it.

That’s why it’s evolved into the powerful, yet highly flexible, low cost and user friendly feed formulation resource it is today.

I decided to develop the Ration Formulator when I identified an unmet need for such a solution in the market, through my interaction with Farm CEOs.

The same situation led me to develop the Poultry Farm Manager for a 12,000 layer farm in 2009. The couple who owned the farm hired me to build it for them.

So we sat down to draw up the Functional Requirements Specifications, that ensured the final app did exactly what we agreed was needed to allow daily data recording and report generation for timely decision making.

Since then, I have customized it for use with another farm in South West Nigeria. It was after finishing that project and writing about it on my website that I began getting enquiries from farmers from even the USA.

This made me realize that once again, off-the-shelf apps probably did not meet the needs of farm owners. That was when I chose to put the Poultry Farm Manager software online for sale.

Take a good read through the PDF I sent you, and you’ll see I mentioned that the app was originally built for Layers farms.

However, many of the enquiries I’ve been getting have come from Broiler farm owners – some having both broilers and layers.

That’s why I (as I said in the PDF I sent you) I decided to ADD extra interfaces to capture broiler records and generate corresponding industry relevant Broiler Key Performance Indicators (e.g. Feed to Flesh Conversion Ratio and Feeding Rate).

Anyone who buys the N25k app will find it offers useful value well ABOVE the N25k s/he’s paid. You would be able to use it satisfactorily to do what it promises as spelt out in my PDF.

Simply put, it works. And you have access to my zero cost support 24/7 via phone email, facebook, chat etc, if any issues arise.

This is the trade off I am willing to make, to help interested Farm CEOs.

Those who decide they want the rest of the full app’s features can then let me know.

Anyone who wants special inclusions/modifications will also let me know, and I would supply details of what delivering that would entail.

This is how I work Isaac.

I collaborate with farm owners to develop low cost custom solutions that do what they need them to do.

Over time, with each app, I am able to fine tune the main app, using the feedback I get, to instantly be used by all other businesses. This was how I got my Ration Formulator to be ready-for-use by anyone.

And it was also how I got my Payslip Generator to be the same way (see video at http://www.excelheaven.biz or http://www.excelheaven.tayosolagbade.com)

Personally, I believe most smallholder farm businesses will continue to need the help of extension professionals highly skilled in low cost development of easy-to-use apps, to run their businesses.

A one size fits all solution will then evolve from those efforts. My successes over the years prove this is the way to go.

Hope this helps.

Do let me know if you have any further queries.

Tayo

Such great sales conversations with serious prospective buyers happening almost every day of the week. And over 60%  actually end up as sales!

Now, if the traffic widget on this blog is anything to go by, I’m getting NOTHING close to what I was getting when this website of mine was hosted on spontaneousdevelopment.com – the 9 year old website.

Yet, this newer domain tayosolagbade.com is harvesting much higher Google generated sales leads within less than ONE month!

Yet, all I do is create new content and deploy via my Web Marketing System online via different channel formats I’ve setup – NONE of which costs me any money.

Wow!

This proves what I’ve learnt over 10 years of studying the results I get online, that NOT everyone needs lots of traffic to make sales.

No. 144: Use Mental Abilities to Solve Your Physical Problems

I’m a keen student of human nature…comparing people from different cultures, especially with regard to how they tackle problems.

Here’s a hard truth  I feel compelled to state: I’ve found many Nigerians/Africans unwilling to actively apply their mental abilities to solve everyday problems they face in the physical realm.

Our Culture Influences Our Attitudes Towards Thinking Up Lasting Solutions to Problems

Out here, even well schooled persons sometimes display an aversion for investing quality THINKING time to evolve more efficient solutions to daily challenges in society.

This is why so much dependence on solutions from foreign cultures (often not directly usable!) exists.

A culture where people are too impatient to stop and think of a better way to solve a problem, is one that will most likely stay stuck with outdated methods for a long time, or keep depending on others.

In contrast, one that encourages – and rewards – people to spend quality time thinking of better ways to do things, will evolve to higher levels…and keep leading others.

Many Business Owners Out Here Are Often In a Hurry…To Do Things They Same Way They’ve Always Done Them!

What I’m saying here relates to stuff as simple as fetching water, cooking etc. It’s nice to use “traditional” ways – sometimes….

But the gas cooker and water pump make life much easier don’t they?

Guess where they were invented? How many “inventions” have WE sent over there? Hmm….

One would imagine that business persons, entrepreneurs especially, can influence a change. But what I’ve seen over the past decade suggests otherwise.

When you ask if they ever thought of a better way to do what they do, they often impatiently respond along the lines of:

“Look I don’t have time for that now. I’m too busy.”

But THAT tends to be the reason why they are always too busy…and rarely have time!

You see, they fail to make out time to THINK up more efficient ways to tackle their challenges. As a result problems mount and KEEP them busy!!

[Remember…life is a matter of percentages. So I am NOT saying ALL Nigerians/Africans are like this!]

Some Examples to Illustrate My Point…

Tell a Nigerian/African business owner that employing an army of “marketers” to find buyers for the 12,000 broilers ready for market may not be a smart way to spend money/time, and s/he might say “I don’t have time for theory!” – e.g.  in reference to your suggestion that one marketer use a mix of offline and offline strategies to find high paying medium to long term bulk buyers.

Talk to him/her about using custom software to record data and generate performance indicators for decision making, and s/he’s likely to say “I don’t need it”.

Yet s/he and her staff could spend hours writing down farm data in books or posting them in manual Excel sheets, then struggling to analyse them into something sensible. That is, if they bother at all!

Quite often some give “cost” as an excuse for not buying.

But when cost is okay, and they buy, I’ve found many fail to USE what they buy! They “try” for a while, then dump it and go back to killing fires.

Here’s One Short But True Story, That Should Jolt You Into Taking Me Seriously…

I once had a Nigerian consultant client pay me N100k in full, up front to build an app for his building construction company.

For months later I tried to get a meeting to review the finished product with me, and he NEVER once made himself available.

So I dropped off the app on a CD, with user guide etc…

And till this day he has NEVER called me about it (even though we recently met at a social function, and I mentioned it…to which he just said – smiling in an embarassed manner – “Oh, you mean I never discusssed it with you?“)

“Amazing!”…is what you probably think about the above. “Scary” was what it was for me…!!!

The above is one of many experiences that made me decide to focus on serving Farm Business Owners. More of them use solutions they buy from me, and that gives me something to tell new prospects!

I’ve Seen This Happen Repeatedly: My Conclusion Is That It Boils Down to One’s “Mental Attitude”

This mental attitude “thing” is what made it possible for the “smallish” Bruce Lee, to fell opponents much MUCH bigger than himself, within seconds of combat…becoming a legend in the process.

Any martial arts expert who knows his/her stuff will tell you it’s not size that determines who wins.

And it’s not strength either.

Oh, you can have intelligence, speed, agility and all those other things.

But one thing which can outlast ALL those other strengths in your opponent, is an ability to use your God-given MENTAL abilities to THINK up creative ways to (and keep believing you CAN) WIN.

That’s Why All Experts – Including Farm CEOs and Speaking Professionals – Need to Read Napoleon Hill’s Think & Grow Rich

It offers a timeless proven formula for solving problems in ANY area of life…through the use of a MENTAL approach! Even top sportsperson in the world have used Hill’s formula to succeed for decades…

Here’s a quote I from it, that you may find useful…

“Top coaches, in their search for methods that will give their champions just that little bit extra over and above their regular scientifically devised training programme, are finding new inspiration in the doctrines of the great American expert (Napoleon Hill). They are adapting Napoleon Hill’s technique of mental approach to what is, essentially, a physical problem. Some have taken the PMA Science of Success course so they may apply the principles correctly.”

– Thomas H. Wyngard, an Australian newspaperman, in reference to the record breaking achievements of one time World’s Fastest Woman Swimmer, Dawn Fraser of Australia, who ascribed her success to following Napoleon’s recommendation in Think and Grow Rich, to “go the extra mile” physically, as we as mentally.

Source: Napoleon Hill’s Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude

Final Words: Start Using a Mental Approach to Get Better Results With Your Real-World Physical Problems

No matter what area of your life a problem affects, you’re better off investing quality time to THINK up a lasting solution once and for all.

Or you will end up punishing yourself.

Find effective solutions, and you’ll spend more time enjoying what you do.

a. If you’re a farm owner, this applies not just to producing farm output, but also finding good buyers.

Do you have a well thought out system for doing both?

Or is your approach a haphazard one?

I can help you. Click here to contact me.

b. If you’re an expert-who-speaks (and a Farm CEO should be!), do you have a routine for preparing and presenting your ideas to audiences.

Or again, is it just a haphazard process?

But then, maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here…

I should probably be asking: Do you even know what you can – and should – speak to audiences about?!

If your answer is No, contact Burt Dubin here, about his Speaking Success System. He can help you!

PS: In case you wonder why I say a Farm CEO should also be an expert-speaker, email tayo at tksola dot com and I’ll explain how doing so can earn you EXTRA income in multiple ways!)

[IMPORTANT NOTE:====

On 4th May 2014, Tayo’s 9 year old domain (Spontaneousdevelopment dot com), which hosted his website, was taken over by Aplus.net.

Within a few days however, Tayo used his advanced self-taught web development skills to build a SUPERIOR “reincarnation” of it the website http://www.tayosolagbade.com.

But updates are still ongoing to URLs bearing the old domain name in most of the over 1,000 web pages, and blog posts

he’s published.

If you experience any difficulties finding a page or document, email Tayo at tksola dot com.

Here’s an article Tayo wrote, to inspire others to defy adversity, and bounce back to even greater reckoning at what they do EVERY time:

And he wrote the one below, to explain why losing a domain name, no matter how old NO LONGER determines your online success or otherwise:

What You Need to Achieve Web Marketing Success (4 Tips)

If you’re a Farm CEO or independent professional (e.g. experts-who-speak
and consultants in various fields) looking to cost-effectively reach potential buyers, an intelligent Web Marketing System(WMS) can help you.

This article outlines key elements that comprise such a system …including my special service offer to support YOU!

What Do You Need to Achieve Web Marketing Success?

I’ll tell you.

First, let me say that further down I tell you how to request a PDF download about my offer to help you get started, and also teach you to carry on by yourself.

When you go through it, you’ll be shocked to discover that my offer effectively lets you eat your cake, and still have it!

Now, I’ll explain those key elements you need in your arsenal, to achieve Web Marketing success…

1. CMS (Content Management System) Based WEB DESIGN

So, you definitely need a website. But let me tell you this.

It’s not just any kind of website.

First it must NOT be a static html based one. Secondly, it must be dynamic and database driven.

And thirdly, it must be user friendly, to the extent that a novice owner can quickly learn to make most content updates and modifications to it, without help, once s/he has been taught how.

Remember this: Stay away from bells and whistles!

You see, functionality (what you want the website to do for you) must be the main determinant of the shape/form you choose to give your website.

Today’s serious minded and smart buyers pay bells and whistles little attention. They know something better can turn up tomorrow – even from a high school kid. And they know it’s rarely a sign of quality, and credibility. Even scam websites look better than some authentic corporate websites!

A better way to impress is to offer useful content on a regular basis.

That’s the core of web marketing success. Indeed marketing success generally!

That’s why I offer all clients a FREE WYSIWYG based dynamic/database driven website, charging a fee for only the content copy writing.

If you pay for 3 or more years hosting with my CB Solutions web hosting platform, and you request it, I will build your website for you, using a powerful CMS (either Joomla! or WordPress) that allows YOU manage it yourself.

And you’ll also get the content copywriting at no charge.

View Business & Pro hosting plans here….

2. ARTICLE WRITING/MARKETING

Article writing is at the heart of today’s credibility boosting web marketing.

Ultimately, nothing else beats it as a means to achieving the end of timeless marketing that attracts sales leads to you, even while you sleep.

You’re reading this right now, NOT because you saw an advert I paid for somewhere on or off the web.

Like many thousands of other readers who follow my work online, you most likely found me via the trail of my past writings, syndicated via social media, on other websites, and/or thrown up in search engine results pages.

Some people spend good money to get similar exposure. But after their money "expires", their "visibility" also diminishes as well.

In my case, and the case of those smart others who use this strategy, what we publish online stays there, and keeps getting found by others.

Our names become more recognized over time, and this confers an authority status on us, that boosts the credibility of the solutions we offer.

If you adopt a similar strategy, you will reap the same, or even better rewards.

3. NEWSLETTER PUBLISHING/MARKETING

This is related to 2. above.

But this time you’ll be writing to further cement the credibility you earn with those who read your articles and sign up for your newsletter.

Your newsletter should ideally be branded with a unique name that accurately describes what you do, and how it benefits those you want to sell to, or influence.

Even more important, for this and item 2. above, is that you must convey the impression of consistency by following a regular schedule in implementing these 2 strategies.

Otherwise, those you seek to attract may struggle to buy into you, for the long term. And you do need that to happen to ensure selling success!

Again, I offer to help those who signup for my offer.

For the 1st 3 months: I will create & subsequently publish YOUR branded monthly HTML e-mail newsletter using an automated mailing list software.

4. BLOG PUBLISHING & SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

This is crucially important.

You need a blog to act as your mouthpiece – Your PR manager, if you will.

This is where your "news" and latest updates, and ideas will be published from.

In other words, your articles and newsletter will ideally be deployed from this platform.

But you’ll also need to link it to your other online self-promotion channels (e.g. Google plus, Facebook, Twitter etc).

Where possibly, you will set them up to be be automatically updated from the blog, anytime you add new content. That will save you time, and effort and boost your content syndication efforts dramatically.

I call this "implementing blog content driven, zero cost search engine optimization and social media marketing to make potential customers contact YOU."

Can’t do it alone? Or don’t know how to get started?

No problem.

I can collaborate with you and/or anyone you assign from your team, to write, publish & syndicate articles online in YOUR name.

All you need do is signup for my Web Marketing for CEOs offer. Details further down.

First, let me say who my offer is NOT for…

This service is NOT open to groups or large organizations (e.g. educational or religious institutions, or social clubs etc).

Instead, Farm CEOs, and independent professionals (especially experts-who-speak, consultants and solopreneurs in various fields) are the main target audience.

Apart from Doing 1 to 4 Above, for You, I Will…

a. Give You Free Web Marketing Coaching

I will prepare for you – and coach you to use – a PDF Web Marketing Plan (think of it as a Biz Plan for your online presence) written and customized specially for you/your company, so you can continue your web marketing after I leave.

b. Send you a Weekly Web Marketing TIPS Newsletter

You will get a LIFETIME subscription to my new Web Marketing for CEOs TIPS newsletter – delivered ONLY to web marketing clients/club members."

I DO NOT sell subscription to this resource.

c. Give You a Lifetime 50% Discount to my Products/Services

After the first 3 months (in which I do 2, 3 and 4 for you) expire, you will FOREVER be able to purchase all my products/services at 50% off.

In case you’re wondering…the products/services include:

(a). Items 2 to 4 above…

(b). My Custom Excel-VB driven software e.g. Payslip Generator; Biz Contacts Manager; Invoice Generator, Poultry Farm Manager etc (but excluding my Feed Formulation products).

(c). My Cost-Saving Best Practice Farm Business Support Services (e.g. the BOPMS for Profitable Farm Management)

(d). My information products at www.lulul.com/sdaproducts (but excluding my Feed Formulation Handbook).

You’ll simply note down those you want, and send me your request.

Question: Why am I doing this?

Answer: I want MORE people to KNOW me. I also want MORE web hosting clients – who will REAP web marketing profits, THEN tell others about what I DO for them!

What Do You Need to Do, to Signup?

Click here to send me a request for my PDF offer which contains full details.

Click here to send me a request for my PDF offer which contains full details about my Hosting With Web Marketing for Farm CEOs & Other Experts

A Friendly Warning: I Have to Feel I Can Work With You to Achieve GOOD RESULTS!

My reason for doing this is to further boost my name recognition as a Performance Improvement Specialist in the area of Web Marketing Systems development and implementation.

The LOW entry fee is designed to make it easier for as many as may need support, to come on board..

However, this is NOT an all comers club. Not everyone who indicates interest, and says s/he is ready to pay will be accepted by me.

I WILL therefore have a serious discussion with EACH person who indicates interest, to decide if I can work with him/her.

If my gut tells me you’re unlikely to be willing/able to meet me halfway, to achieve the goals we agree, I won’t take you on.

And that’s also why the offer is ONLY open to a limited number of people at a time.

PS: I Have Told You WHAT to Do, But Not How to Do It…

It’s possible some people will be able to take what I’ve said above and run with it, to achieve their desired goals.

If you’re able to do that, my congratulations to you – and do let me have some feedback on how you get on :-)

Incidentally, this is not the first time I’m writing about all this.

But it is the first time I’m making an offer of this kind.

And that’s because what I see suggests most people still do NOT get it!

So, if you’re one of the many I have over time come to discover need support to get it done (and there is NOTHING wrong with needing support), then the offer I’ve made here is for you.

Simply fill/submit this web form, to indicate your interest (I’ll send you the PDF with details once I get your message).

Raw Blood from the Abattoir Cannot Be Used as “Blood Meal” for Ration Formulation (Conversation with a Farm CEO learning Best Practice Feed Formulation and Compounding)

I LOVE results focussed business owners. And I’ve found Livestock Farm CEOs especially fit that description better than most other business owners I’ve worked with.

For instance, within hours of purchasing my Feed Formulation Handbook and Software, a few days ago, a new (Jos, Plateau state – based) buyer called to ask how he could safely use Blood Meal to boost protein content of rations he formulates.

He wanted to know if collecting and using raw blood directly from an abbatoir he’d visited would be okay…

I quickly explained that raw blood was not the same as blood meal. The latter is a product derived from the former, via certain processing steps. If the former is used without such processing, a great danger of passing infection to one’s animals exists.

That’s apart from negative effects on physical compounding of the ration.

I was however in a meeting with a Piggery farm business consultant, inside the Berger branch of Tantalizers Fast Food restaurant, when his call came in. So I promised to compile some notes with more detailed explanations, and email to him later on.

What I share below, are excerpts from the notes I sent him today…

Hi H<name removed for privacy>,

It took me a while to get back to you on this, because my client – the Director of a Private University here in Cotonou – called AFTER I purchased the domain name and hosting for their university’s website that they paid for, and asked that I help build it as well. So, I’ve suddenly had to take on additional tasks, as they want the project started immediately.

Anyway, I think I’ve now compiled enough relevant page excerpts that you can study to get a feel for how blood is obtained and used for making blood meal.

===

1. http://www.feedipedia.org/node/221

This website discussed features of blood meal, and provides a description of the process that is entailed in producing this high animal protein content feed ingredient.

Click here to visit the page

2. http://ingredients101.com/bloodmeal.htm (BLOOD MEAL, WHOLE)

This website offers a description of a more sophisticated procedure for processing blood into blood meal. This involves the use of equipment such as on-site cooling tanks, which have in-built agitators to stop the blood coagulating.

And then in the final stage, a centrifuge is used to separate out foreign matter from the blood, before it is sent through a “disintegrator” which removes any remaining extraneous bodies after which it is subjected to “spray drying”. Some details about how the finished product is bagged and stored are also mentioned.

Something you may find interesting is a chemical composition analysis result table published on that page. It confirms the fact that blood meal is a very good source of Lysine, a key amino acid for ration formulation.

Click here to visit the page

3. http://msucares.com/pubs/bulletins/b1041.htm

In addition to also describing Blood Meal, and what it is made from, this third website makes interesting references to different animal rations in which blood meal is known to be used.

Click here to visit the page

I must say here that I am not sure how widespread the use of blood meal remains in the industry today…

The feed mill in Oko Oba, Lagos, where I conduct practical Feed Formulation & Compounding Training for Farm Owners who sign up for it, to the best of my knowledge does NOT sell Blood Meal.

And I have never heard any of the numerous customers that come there to make bagged feeds request for it.

It would appear most people would rather avoid the risk of using ready made ones or the hassle of making their own.

Neither issue however stops anyone willing to do it right from going ahead and succeeding. So if it appeals to you, just take the needed precautions and do it.

Remember that ingredients like blood meal, despite having high desired nutrients, can often NOT be used in large amounts.

Usually 5%, to an upper limit of 10% is what I have seen used.

This is mainly because apart from its tendency to pre-dispose the resulting feed to quicker deterioration (being a rich medium for microbes to grow), blood meal also tends to reduce palatability as it’s inclusion level (usage) is increased in a ration.

The reactions will of course vary from one animal group to another. That goes without saying.

Which is why I always encourage farmers to use what they read or are told by support specialists (like me!) ONLY as a guide.

Final Words: So, my advice is therefore for you to TEST, TEST, TEST and test everything you read, or are told – BEFORE accepting that it will work for you or not!

FIRST try it out on a micro/pilot case. Possibly by isolating a few animals and trying out the new ration to see how they respond, before deciding to use it across farm.

That’s the way it’s done ALL over the world.

Like I keep trying to tell as many Farm CEOs as will listen: You do NOT need a PhD in Agricultural research to conduct trials on YOUR farm.

You see, the very fact that you own a real life functional farm operation, amply QUALIFIES you to explore best practice ways to improve YOUR farm processes.

All you need it guidance to proceed intelligently, so you can get RELIABLE results.

I offer that guidance via my Best Practice Support Solutions, to those who take up my offer.

As long as you’re careful, and painstaking, you should eventually find out what works best for your animals.

A Proven Strategy to Find Profitable Buyers Regardless of Your Domain Name

[UPDATE: 16th August 2023 – Click HERE to download PRINT-READY PDF version of this article.

A-Proven-Strategy-to-Find-P

The approach described in this article can help you find buyers for ANYTHING you sell, at low to zero cost. And your domain name would NOT really matter.

Incidentally, one group of people I believe BADLY need this kind of solution are Farm Business Owners.

Why?

Because what they sell is often produced at a cost that leaves them relatively small margins to play with in fixing their selling prices, compared to counterparts in other industries. What’s more, most farm owners still do not know how to use the web in conjunction with offline effortsm they make, to generate profitable sales!

If the above describes you, then I urge you to read this article right till the end.

This is why I offer a special Sales and Marketing Coaching/Support service for Farm CEOs and any other interested business owners.

The ideas and strategies I teach, cover both online and offline marketing channels. They are unusual, but tried and tested…

“Tayo, get your head out of the American clouds, and bring yourself back down to the Nigerian earth.”

Actually no one ever said those exact words to me. But a good number spoke in tones that strongly suggested the same thing :-)

Only my experience based conviction kept me from making the mistake of listening to them.

Today, despite countless visitations of adversity in various forms, I continue to grow the reach and impact of my brand, using mostly the same “American ideas” harvested from keeping my head in the “American ideas clouds”.

I’ve now arrived at a stage where potential buyers of solutions I offer readily use my name, to find me and my solutions. I say this based on years of carefully studying the trends and patterns relating to sales leads that bring subscribers and buyers to me through the different online channels I employ.

Just today, yet another enquirer contacted me via www.tayosolagbade.com – which he found via a Search Engine Results Page (SERP).

Screenshot of web contact form submission - another enquirer contacted me via www.tayosolagbade.com - which he found via a Search Engine Results Page (SERP).

So you see, the domain name matters, but not as much as it used to…

That’s why – as I explained in recent articles – I refused to buy back my 9 year old domain (www.spontaneousdevelopment.com) that got taken over .

In the past, such loss of a domain often meant certain death for online brands.

Back then, in the 90s especially, people spent thousands of dollars protecting and buying back their domains from “thieves” who snatched them up on expiry, if the owner delayed or did not have protective lock on it.

But today – with the exception, possibly of a person’s name – things have changed a lot.

The age of the domain name also matters…but NOT as much as the QUALITY of the content provided…AND the creativity with which it is presented in multiple formats (e.g. video, graphics, text, audio etc) and deployed via key online channels.

Anyone who knows how to do the above consistently will find success in using the web to market his/her offerings to target audiences.

If Domain Age Matters Too Much, New Websites Would Never Stand a Chance!

Think about it. I’m sure Google and other search engines are simply too smart to let themselves make the mistake of placing too much weight on domain age.

It’s just like I’ve written in the past about work-related experience of employees. Forget how long you’ve been on the job. Focus instead on the value you’ve added during that period.

Let Me Use This Case Study of a Fictitious Richard Branson Blog about Angel Investors to Illustrate My Point

Imagine Richard Branson decided to launch a blog about angel investors, and the kinds of businesses they would be interested in supporting.

But there’s one thing: He decides to deliberately do this anonymously!

How well do you think that new website would fare if Branson chose NOT to publicly link himself with it?

Some people would say not as well as it would if he told every one he was the owner.

I argue that it would matter little or none at all, IF the website delivers QUALITY to its target audience.

“How do I mean”? Well, read on to understand…

Let’s say Branson hires a virtual assistant to post weekly updates about a “group” of featured angel investors, and what they are looking to invest in.

Branson also gives him/her tips about what to say, and how to say it.

But ALL the content is published is under a “Pen Name” that visitors cannot link back to Branson.

What is likely to happen, is people will read and respond to the website’s contents possibly via comments and also sending emails or web form submissions.

Even the media would not fall over themselves to report the arrival of the blog, or its evolution.

The blog would therefore have to survive on its own merit for the most part.

Based on the above scenario, a passionate audience of business owners looking for “friendly” source of financing and support for their businesses/ideas, is what will make the blog grow in followership.

But what would attract that kind of audience?

I believe iIt’s the relentless creative publishing, and propagation of information, and featured opportunities, that visitors to the blog perceive as useful and/or potentially rewarding.

That’s what would keep them coming back while also telling others to do so!

Eventually, search engines will follow the human traffic to the blog, and indexed relevant pages…

From then on, and for as long as it continues churning out useful content, search engine traffic to it would climb rapidly.

The above described process, is how authentic authority websites are made! No magic, and certainly no manipulation is involved at all!

The key to cost-effective, long term web marketing success is to get yourself found via NATURAL search engine results and other non-sponsored channels.

At least that is my preferred approach.

I favour a long term investment of time, effort, and creativity, in populating the Internet, with timeless marketing content (i.e. that NEVER stops sending you quality leads) over any paid strategies.

But that is not to say it’s the only way…

It’s just that what I sell, and the part of the world I sell from, make this preferred approach of mine more profitable that it would otherwise be.

For each of us, careful assessment of our circumstances will often determine what will best serve our needs.  I will however add that this method I favour is one used by many highly successful experts across the world that I have closely studied and related with. They all confirm it delivers superior long term, and cost effective benefits.

If YOU would like to reap similar benefits, email me via tayo at tksola dot com or fill/submit this form for more details.
