Visit to CSS Bookshop On Lagos Island, With My Girls! Feat: History of the Iconic Establishment

The Bookshop House – aka CSS (i.e. Church Missionary Society) Bookshop has been a leading supplier of books, items, stationery, pamphlets from public lectures and also church related publications such as hymnals, for over a century (since 1869 to be exact).

However, I recall observing during my last visit to the CSS Bookshop (over 10 years ago), that it was not in the best shape. So, when I was taking my girls there on this day (17th February 2024), I was not sure what to expect. But I simply could not imagine bringing them to that location and NOT taking them into such a historic landmark.

Walking into the shop however ended up being quite a pleasant experience, as we were greeted with a most appealing menu of new, and colorful good quality books on a wide variety of subjects fully stacked on shelves all around!

Little wonder that the girls went on to explore and purchase multiple items – many of which turned out to be quite affordably priced. It was really refreshing to see the iconic bookshop looking rejuvenated and radiant in a manner befitting its status. Kudos to the management!
