#SexForGrades Updates: The BBC Journalist “Kiki Mordi” Dropped Out of College Due to Sexual Harassment [Watch “Mr Lecturer” in which Eedris Abdulkareem rapped about #SexForGrades in 2002!]

In this post, I feature highlights of updates I have recently shared on this theme of #SexForGtades
First, here;s the BBC video itself – watch below, or click here

Now, on to my updates..

1. THE JOURNALIST WHO CHAMPIONED THE BBC UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION TO PRODUCE THE #SexForGrades video documentary says she dropped out of university due to Sexual Harassment…

BUT look where she works..,and see the quality of her work! The BBC knew enough to look BEYOND her lack of a “certificate”.
Once again my argument that SKILLS and NATURAL TALENTS/GENIUS matter more for success than paper qualifications becomes relevant. And when you consider the fact that sexual predators are prowling our colleges in large numbers, disguised as lecturers…Kiki Mordi’s chosen line of action may likely appeal to others, IF needed changes do not happen to ensure our GIRLS are safe in school!

2. DO YOU REMEMBER? Eedris Abdulkareem rapped about this over a decade ago… but all OBJ did was to harass him for saying “Nigeria Jaga Jaga”!

Notice the BBC video begins with this quote from one of the ladies interviewed:
“Nobody wants to listen. Nobody wants to believe victims”

That tells you that some of the girls must have tried to report the lecturers many times without success. Nigerians are experts at living with bad practices happening around them. That’s why Yahoo boys live and move freely among us for instance.

Ali this noise of approval for this documentary by Nigerians NOW that BBC has done what we with all our RELIGIOUSITY failed to do for years is just hypocritical rubbish.

This has been happening for a long time all over the country and most of us have always known it but refused to say anything and pretend instead. Sad!

3″Mr. Lecturer” was released and became an instant hit in 2002 by Eedris Abdulkareem.

Amazing how yesterday’s BBC documentary’s revelation so closely resembles the plot in the song’s story… Over a decade and a half later!#SexForGrades

“Going down to the memory lane Off Mr Abdulkareem’s (2002!) sophomore solo album is Mr. Lecturer – a song that addresses the problem of students using money and séx to solicit higher grades in Nigerian colleges and universities, as well as male lecturers exploiting female students by requesting séx and money in exchange for good grades.

The track gathered so much buzz that it sealed his status as one of hip-hop’s most revered acts in Nigeria as far back as the year 2002..”
