The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) is regarded as the most prominent non-govermental organization in the Global Agriculutursl Research Network.

Founded by the World Bank in 1971 with the mandate to support activities of the international agroicultural research centers, it has members from both developing and developed countries., in addition to some UN agencies as well as a variety of Non-Governmental International Development organizations.
