This week, I feature an exciting new addition to the family of commercial livestock kept in Africa, that is really making big waves. Most people know what kinds of birds are called BROILERS. But not many know about KUROILERS…yet! Believe me, that’s no typo. The Kuroiler is a hybrid chicken breed developed in India by either:

a. crossing “coloured broiler males with Rhode Island Red females

b. crossing White Leghorn males with female Rhode Island Reds.

And it’s a wonderful producer of both meat and eggs while scavenging under free range conditions typical of subsistence backyard systems prevalent in rural Africa.

And I also feature a story about Rabbit’s urine being used to fertilize crops in Kenya…wonderful innovation by our African brethren!!!
