This dramatic series of events that lasted nearly three weeks too place between April and May 2009<\/em><\/strong>, regarding my former 9 year old domain - spontaneousdevelopment.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I had a premonition towards the end of April, that it would be smart to make alternative arrangements to get payment<\/em><\/h3>\n

for my site's renewal in May 2019, so I started the process of opening a domicillary account with a bank here in Lagos.<\/p>\n

It took some running around to meet all the bank's requirements, but I eventually did.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, some days to the renewal date, I got an email from the bank saying my accound had been blocked for some reason I did not care to even call them about.<\/p>\n

On the due date (2nd May), the credit card attached to my account<\/p>\n

- belonging to a friend in the USA (and which had been used for 4 previous renewals since 2005), failed when it was charged for that year (the 5th). I got an auto-email from (web host name removed)<\/p>\n

to that effect.<\/p>\n

So, what did I do? Well, I have always been a business to business barter exchange enthusiast, and have often offered clients the opportunity to save cash by paying for my services in kind.<\/h3>\n

(For instance, I once had a client who paid about 50% of my fees by printing one of my t-shirt designs on to t-shirts for kids. Visit www.cafepress.com\/ezeartsonline<\/a> to see the Eyo Masquerade designs used on the T-Shirts.<\/p>\n

What I did was to offer a prospective client I was discussing with in the last week of April, a discount, and some other incentives, to use his domicillary account to transfer the required amount (approx $130 excl. charges which amounted to almost $50 at the end) to<\/p>\n

(web host name removed).<\/p>\n

And he agreed. In fact, two days later (after crediting the required dollar amount to the account), he did the transfer. I subsequently followed up with<\/p>\n

(web host name removed).<\/p>\n

But alas, all did not turn out well.<\/p>\n

After a series of enquiries (back and forth email messages and chat discussions), over a number of days, we finally discovered that a certain off-shore charge had not been provided for by my client in the total amount he sent, which led to the money that got to<\/h3>\n

(web host name removed) being lower than my renewal fees.<\/p>\n

By this time, my site had gone offline as a result of the non-renewal. <\/em><\/p>\n

But things have a way of working themselves out.<\/p>\n

In what was a wonderful coincidence (and reversal of fortunes), my new client pointed out that he would be leaving for the USA to attend a course, and could easily send over any balance if I let him know the outcome of my discussions with<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

THAT was exactly what happened.<\/p>\n

I had one final chat session with another<\/p>\n

agent of the hosting company, and I verified the remaining amount to be sent over to complete my payment. I emailed my client the details in Atlanta, and he sent another wire transfer from his US bank to (web host name removed)'s bank in Kansas.<\/p>\n

48 Hours later, my site was back online, and I sent him the following email:<\/h3>\n

Consider also the fact that this chap had already made payments to me in Naira for some part of the work I was doing for him at the time, even though the bulk of it would only begin when he returned.<\/p>\n

On 1st April 2013, Tayo (who reads, write and speaks the French language) relocated to Cotonou, Benin Republic<\/a> to begin slowly traveling across the West African region.<\/p>\n

His key purpose is to deliver talks, seminars <\/strong><\/p>\n

In a previous life, before leaving to become self-employed, Tayo served for seven years as a high performing manager in Guinness Nigeria. He rose from Shift Brewer, to Training & Technical Development Manager, and then later acted in senior management roles as Production Manager and Technical Manager.<\/p>\n

He is an Associate Member of the UK Institute & Guild of Brewing, a 1997 National Finalist of the Nigerian Institute of Management\u2019s(NIM) Young Managers\u2019 competition, a Certified Psychometric Test Administrator for Psytech UK, innovator of Spontaneous Coaching for Self-Development\u2122 (SCfS-D\u2122), and Founder of the Self-Development Academy Limited<\/a>.<\/p>\n
