I\u2019m a keen student of human nature\u2026comparing people from different cultures, especially with regard to how they tackle problems.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a hard truth \u00a0I feel compelled to state:<\/strong> I\u2019ve found many Nigerians\/Africans unwilling to actively apply their mental abilities to solve everyday problems<\/span><\/strong> they face in the physical realm.<\/p>\n

Our Culture Influences Our Attitudes Towards Thinking Up Lasting Solutions to Problems<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Out here, even well schooled persons sometimes display an aversion for investing<\/span><\/strong> quality THINKING time to evolve more efficient solutions to daily challenges in society.<\/p>\n

This is why so much dependence on solutions from foreign cultures (often not directly usable!) exists.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

A culture where people are too impatient to stop and think<\/strong> of a better way to solve a problem, is one that will most likely stay stuck with outdated methods for a long time, or keep depending on others.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

In contrast, one that encourages \u2013 and rewards -<\/strong> people to spend quality time thinking of better ways<\/strong> to do things, will evolve to higher levels\u2026and keep leading others.<\/p>\n

Many Business Owners Out Here Are Often In a Hurry\u2026<\/strong>To Do Things They Same Way They\u2019ve Always Done Them!<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

What I\u2019m saying here relates to stuff as simple as fetching water, cooking etc. It\u2019s nice to use \u201ctraditional\u201d ways - sometimes\u2026.<\/p>\n

But the gas cooker and water pump make life much easier don\u2019t they? <\/em><\/p>\n

Guess where they were invented? How many \u201cinventions\u201d have WE sent over there? Hmm\u2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One would imagine that business persons, entrepreneurs especially, can influence a change. But what I\u2019ve seen over the past decade suggests otherwise.<\/h3>\n

When you ask if they ever thought of a better way to do what they do, they often impatiently respond along the lines of:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cLook I don\u2019t have time for that now. I\u2019m too busy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

But THAT<\/span> <\/strong>tends to be the reason why they are always too busy...and rarely have time!<\/em><\/p>\n

You see, they fail to make out time to THINK up more efficient ways to tackle their challenges. As a result problems mount and KEEP them busy!!<\/p>\n

\u00a0[Remember\u2026life is a matter of percentages. So I am NOT saying ALL<\/span> Nigerians\/Africans are like this!]<\/em><\/p>\n

Some Examples to Illustrate My Point\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Tell a Nigerian\/African business owner that employing an army of \u201cmarketers\u201d to find buyers for the 12,000 broilers ready for market may not be a smart way to spend money\/time<\/span><\/strong>, and s\/he might say \u201cI don\u2019t have time<\/span><\/strong> for theory!\u201d \u2013 e.g. \u00a0in reference to your suggestion that one<\/span><\/strong> marketer use a mix of offline and offline strategies<\/span><\/strong> to find high paying medium to long term bulk buyers<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Talk to him\/her about using custom software to record data and generate performance indicators for decision making, and s\/he\u2019s likely to say \u201cI don\u2019t need it\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yet s\/he and her staff could spend hours writing down farm data in books or posting them in manual Excel sheets, then struggling to analyse them into something sensible. That is, if they bother at all!<\/em><\/p>\n

Quite often some give \u201ccost\u201d as an excuse for not buying. <\/strong><\/p>\n

But when cost is okay, and they buy, I\u2019ve found many fail to USE what they buy! They \u201ctry\u201d for a while, then dump it and go back to killing fires.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s One Short But True Story, That Should Jolt You Into Taking Me Seriously\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I once had a Nigerian consultant client pay me N100k in full, up front to build an app for his building construction company.<\/p>\n

For months later I tried to get a meeting to review the finished product with me, and he NEVER once made himself available.<\/p>\n

So I dropped off the app on a CD, with user guide etc\u2026<\/p>\n

And till this day he has NEVER called me about it (even though we recently met at a social function, and I mentioned it...to which he just said - smiling in an embarassed manner - \"Oh, you mean I never discusssed it with you?<\/strong>\")<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAmazing!\u201d...is what you probably think about the above. \u201cScary\u201d was what it was for me\u2026!!!<\/em><\/p>\n

The above is one of many experiences that made me decide to focus on serving Farm Business Owners. More of them use solutions they buy from me, and that gives me something to tell new prospects!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve Seen This Happen Repeatedly: My Conclusion Is That It Boils Down to One\u2019s \u201cMental Attitude\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This mental attitude<\/span><\/em><\/strong> \"thing\" is what made it possible for the \u201csmallish\u201d Bruce Lee, to fell<\/span><\/em><\/strong> opponents much MUCH bigger than himself, within seconds of combat\u2026becoming a legend in the process.<\/p>\n

Any martial arts expert who knows his\/her stuff will tell you it\u2019s not<\/span><\/strong> size that determines who wins.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s not strength either.<\/p>\n

Oh, you can have intelligence, speed, agility and all those other things.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But one thing which can outlast ALL those other strengths in your opponent, is an ability to use your God-given MENTAL abilities to THINK up creative ways to (and keep believing you CAN) WIN<\/span><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n
