How People React to an Idea Often Depends on How They Feel About the Owner!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If it\u2019s someone they like or admire, even the worst idea will be great \u2013 as long as it comes from him\/her.<\/p>\n

Think celebrities for instance \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

If truth be told, ground breaking, earth-shaking or life changing ideas rarely sound<\/strong> \u201cGround breaking, earth-shaking or life changing\u201d to most people<\/strong>, when they are first muted!!!<\/p>\n

Ever noticed that? <\/strong>It's an irony of life well documented in history.<\/p>\n

My experiences suggest that if you go with what majority think of your \"new idea\", you're likely to go wrong.<\/h3>\n

And that includes highly intelligent and successful members of the majority: believe me!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Consider my passion, for solving data handling\/report generation problems for business owners using low cost Custom Excel-VB Software<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all so easy for people to buy into mine now, BECAUSE I have many success stories to share that make it believable!<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0But back when I was doing the hard thinking to develop my ideas, I had no one around saying \u201cYes. This is going to work<\/strong>.\u201d Finding willing clients was a struggle. And many close friends and relatives often adopted \u201cTold you so<\/strong>!\u201d as I limped along.<\/p>\n

So, you can imagine how much Fran Tarkenton\u2019s words flashed through my mind all those years. <\/strong><\/p>\n

I knew from what I\u2019d done in Guinness, and what I was creating anew that I could help business owners. But they just did not \u201cget it\u201d!<\/p>\n

One of the very first business owners I told I built \"Custom Excel software\" said:<\/p>\n

\"What? Who's going to pay you money to do that?\"<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Interestingly, he was also a close family friend!<\/em><\/p>\n

Another business owner (and his friends) laughed me out of his Ikeja office, saying:<\/p>\n

\n

\"I can teach YOU Excel. Imagine him wanting to build software for me in Excel!<\/strong>\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This happened mostly between 2002 and 2004. But I kept going - and eventually got my first client in late 2004, who paid N100K for an app he gave to an Oil Service client.<\/p>\n

Today, my custom Excel apps have been built for hospitals, clinics, speech improvement centers, health and fitness clubs<\/a> etc.<\/p>\n

Many farm business owners use my popular Excel-VB driven Ration Formulator<\/a> (which they often buy along with my Feed Formulation Handbook<\/a>). A few have bought my Poultry Layer Farm Manager<\/a>, as I continue to improve on it.<\/p>\n

Elite Farm Industry Support Providers Are Also Showing Interest<\/strong><\/h3>\n

1. Earlier this month, my agribusiness research paper<\/strong> recommending that Extension specialists worldwide be trained to use Excel-VB to serve farmers the way I do, was accepted for publishing by an international organization. (Read details here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The paper is a case study, in which I featured my popular Excel-VB driven Ration Formulator, which has been bought by farm business owners within and outside Nigeria\/Africa, since 2004.<\/p>\n

[NB: <\/strong>In the first quarter of 2014, using payment received for the above paper, I'll launch my Home based Farm Products Brew-Pub here in Cotonou, selling my drinks and cakes made from pineapple peel<\/a>]<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

2. Just last week, I received email notice of a call for entries <\/strong>to a related contest by the same international organization that accepted my above paper.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s for a \u201cTop 20 Innovations for smallholder farmers<\/strong>\u201d awards contest, which comes with a grant of 5,000 Euros to each innovation that gets voted. My Excel-VB driven Ration Formulator software is going to be entered for that. <\/em><\/p>\n

3. The same day I got the notice about the above \u201cTop-20\u201d contest notice<\/strong>, I got another email informing me of a request from the Country Project Manager of a well known agriculture focussed international organisation.<\/p>\n

On learning about my Ration Formulator, he\u2019d asked that I send a quote, towards travelling to his East African country, to teach farmer groups how to use my software for feed formulation!<\/p>\n

But It\u2019s Not<\/strong> Just My Knowledge of Feed Formulation<\/strong><\/a> That\u2019s Attracting These Opportunities \u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

No. Instead, it\u2019s my idea of using MS Excel Visual Basic to cost-effectively automate the process<\/span><\/strong>, that\u2019s opening the above doors for me.<\/p>\n

Then again, it's not just the idea<\/strong>. It\u2019s actually more due to my SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION <\/strong>of the idea i.e. I made it work!<\/em><\/p>\n

Remove the low cost, customizable Excel-VB solutions, and I become just like any other farm support Extension Specialst<\/strong>. Possibly with lesser credibility<\/em>!<\/strong><\/p>\n

See?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can now see, I\u2019m sure, that Fran Tarkenton was DEAD right: \"We all have self doubts, but as entrepreneurs we don\u2019t let these thoughts stop us. It is only a sanity check and is a normal thing.<\/strong>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

As the new year approaches, I urge you to do just as Mr. Tarkenton said. <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Don\u2019t worry when you have doubts or others question your ideas. It\u2019s supposed to happen that way. That it\u2019s happening is proof that you\u2019re sane.<\/p>\n

Keep working on (and improving) your idea, and you\u2019ll eventually succeed with it \u2013 like many others have done before!<\/em><\/p>\n
