Many Ordinary People Have Already Done (and Are Doing) It<\/strong><\/h3>\n
\n

\"We should'nt be poor. S.B. And don't ever let me hear you say that it is God's Will that we are poor. We are poor - not because of God. We a poor because father has never developed a desire to become rich. No one in our family has ever developed a desire to be anything else.\" - S.B. Fuller's mother speaking to him in his formative years. <\/strong>(Source: <\/strong>Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, by Napoleon Hill) <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

NB: <\/strong>S.B. Fuller<\/a> was an African American man born to a father who was a tenant farmer in Louisiana, in the USA. S.B would later in life own controlling interest in 8 companies - including 4 cosmetic companies, a hosiery company, a label company, and a newspaper. And he attributed his success, to the above statement his mother often made to him<\/em>. <\/em><\/p>\n

We can all draw inspiration from the achievements of everyday persons, who made yesterday's (seeming) impossibilities, today's realities.<\/p>\n

Here are examples that anyone can relate to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Thomas Edison<\/a><\/h3>\n

Despite having only 3 months of formal schooling, he created the light bulb - after testing thousands of different metals without success.<\/p>\n

For a man who was written off by school teachers as being retarded, and incapable of doing well in school, his life\u2019s achievement of 1093 patents is no small feat!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regarding the opinion of his teachers, Edison famously noted that his mother \u201cwas the making of\u201d him.<\/p>\n

This was because, when he told her what he overheard teachers saying to the inspector about him, she went with him to the school.<\/p>\n

Then she loudly announced to all around, that her son was smarter than all the teachers put together. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Subsequently, she withdrew him from that school, and proceeded to home-school him.<\/em><\/p>\n

Today, it\u2019s quite obvious she knew what she was talking about\u2026and what she was doing!<\/p>\n

2. Henry Ford<\/a><\/h3>\n

He led the creation of a 6 cylinder engine that was unheard of in his time. It powered a \"horseless carriage\" (which we know today as a \"car\") that non-affluent persons could afford.<\/p>\n

That journey took him, and his engineers, many long months of hard work with repeated and frequent failures.<\/p>\n

Note that Ford started out as a stark illiterate (according to Napoleon Hill in \u201cThink and Grow Rich\").<\/p>\n

3. The Wright brothers<\/a><\/h3>\n

They showed us how to \"fly\" \u2013 but had to endure many temporary failures before they arrived. Keep in mind that during their time NO ONE had ever made any successful flights.<\/p>\n

And they literally had to continue by the force of their own belief \u2013 not that they were being cheered on by a crowd of \u201centhusiastic supporters\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yet, despite the risk of permanent injury or death, they continued \u2013 till they made it.<\/p>\n

4. Robert Goddard<\/a><\/h3>\n

His works provided the foundation for rocket science, and ultimately space travel. But while alive he was ridiculed far and wide for doing that same work.<\/p>\n

Only decades after his death, did his work get the recognition it deserved<\/a> - causing America's Space Center to be named after him<\/p>\n

5. Tim Berners-Lee<\/a><\/h3>\n

He created \"HTML\" i.e. Hyper-Text Mark-up Language, which remains the fabric of the World Wide Web as we know it today).<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why he\u2019s known as the father of the web. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Interestingly, he chose not to reap financial rewards from his creation. Instead he advocated keeping the web \u201cfree\u201d.<\/p>\n

6. Ben Carson<\/a><\/h3>\n

His world renowned \"gifted\u201d brain surgeon's hands have saved countless kids, that even parents had given up on!<\/p>\n

However, to achieve his amazing success, he had to endure years of crippling poverty.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Apart from the creator, he credits a powerfully supportive mother (who lacked formal education) as being his rock of support, during his formative years, and difficult times in life.<\/p>\n

7. Fela Anikulapo Kuti<\/a><\/h3>\n

His incredible life story and unique Afro beat music, are now celebrated in a very successful broadway show, and also annually at an event aptly named \"Felabration\".<\/p>\n

The world's most successful people in entertainment and human rights advancement (e.g. Jay-Z, Will Smith among others), actively partake. <\/strong><\/p>\n

While alive, Fela applied his God-given creativity to make his music a weapon for fighting oppression, corruption and other societal ills.<\/p>\n

He went through great suffering for doing so. But greatness also became his reward. <\/em><\/p>\n

Most who knew Fela were aware that he held his mother in the greatest esteem, and was devoted to her. <\/strong><\/p>\n

When she was killed during a raid on his Kalakuta republic, he waxed an album lashing out at the government he accused of complicity.<\/p>\n

Today, his legacy is carried on by 2 competent sons (Femi<\/a> and Seun<\/a>), and other Afro beat and human rights advocates, in America, Europe, the Caribbean, Asia, and other parts of the world.<\/em><\/p>\n

Two Things to Remember, From the Above Examples...<\/h3>\n

1. What You Lack Cannot Stop You<\/h4>\n

Edison did not attend formal schooling. Ford was a total illiterate.<\/p>\n

Yet, they both achieved astounding worldwide fame. <\/em><\/p>\n

And they did it by applying their God-given creativity \u2013 with unrelenting persistence.<\/p>\n

2. People Who Believe In You Can Make You...Especially Mothers!<\/h4>\n

I confirm it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

Mothers in particular are quite amazing in their ability to believe in, and inspire their children to super-achieve. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The above examples of S.B Fuller, Edison, Carson and Fela perfectly illustrate this point.<\/p>\n

But it's not just mothers that can have this kind of effect on a person... <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Anyone who believes in you will do what s\/he can to support you in your creative efforts. And that will lead you to success, eventually.<\/p>\n

Final Words: You Are Good Enough<\/strong>!<\/h3>\n

If we all choose to strive daily to actualize our full potentials, as creative beings, like those mentioned above did, our individual societies would be dramatically transformed in a much shorter time.<\/p>\n

Right now, some people seem to (wrongly) believe the creator made a certain group of people smarter. And that they are to WAIT on those people, to create what the rest of the world is to use.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

That mentality, if not changed, will make a person a lifetime mediocre, and under-achiever, no matter how many hours s\/he spends PRAYING to the creator for greatness.<\/p>\n

As an expert in your field, especially when you are one who wants to be a \u201cspeaker\u201d who addresses others, you MUST believe in yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words, believe that YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH <\/strong>to stand on the platform, and\/or that you\u2019re eminently qualified to speak - face to face - with any important person in your industry, about your subject<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n
