If <strong>YOU<\/strong> can learn how to habitually deliver extraordinary results, clients <strong>will<\/strong> call <strong>YOU<\/strong> amazing! It's that simple.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">This issue of my speaking IDEAS newsletter describes a 3-part strategy you can use to achieve that goal.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><strong>1. <span class=\"style42\">First Agree a Scope of Work Using a FRS <\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">In carrying out projects for clients, always agree a scope of work to guide you. This is always a good thing to do.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">It gives a clear idea of what the client has paid for, and when it is to be delivered. <strong>That way, you avoid the uncomfortable situation, in which extra UN-PAID work, outside what was originally agreed, gets added to your schedule (i.e <a href=\"http:\/\/spontaneousdevelopment.com\/sdnuggets\/6-proven-strategies-to-prevent-scope-creep\/\" target=\"_blank\">scope creep<\/a>). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">I learnt from painful experience never to leave that aspect untreated. As a result, today, most projects I work on for clients are based on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spontaneousdevelopment.com\/uploads\/Sample_FRS.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Functional Requirements Specification (FRS) document<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong><em>That instrument provides the formal basis, on which the client is to assess the final work I deliver. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">And I found that clients who engage me often align their expectations to what we sign off on the FRS.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">They rarely expect anything beyond what is on that signed document. And they also often accept that the job will be finished within the duration specified e.g. 20 working days.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><strong>2. <span class=\"style42\">Then Use The FRS as a Guide to Over-Deliver (3 Tips) <\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">Now, the above state of mind YOU get the client into, is what eventually provides YOU with a unique opportunity to impress him\/her. You just need to look carefully for those viable aspects to explore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>Here\u2019s what I mean\u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">In the FRS, the delivery duration and specific deliverables (tasks to be accomplished) are outlined. As each one is delivered, the client is able to verify and tick it off.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><span class=\"style42\"><strong>Opportunity A:<\/strong><\/span> Firstly, what if you deliberately worked to deliver the finished work 5 working days earlier?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">And I mean, the finished job - free from errors or defects that could cast doubt on your work quality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>Wouldn\u2019t that be a pleasant surprise for the client? Quite likely!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><span class=\"style42\"><strong>Opportunity B:<\/strong><\/span> Secondly, what if you also threw in one or two extra services s\/he knows would have cost a handsome sum, as a bonus \u2013 FREE?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">Imagine you did this without saying you would. In other words, let it come as <strong>another pleasant<\/strong> <strong>surprise benefit<\/strong> to the client - who was not expecting it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>This would be a client who was <strong>already happy<\/strong> with what s\/he was getting for the money s\/he paid YOU.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>Judging from my experiences, that bonus is like to make her feel even better about choosing YOU over any other person s\/he may have considered. <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Should the need to do so arise in future, it\u2019s likely she\u2019ll want to choose you, to feel that way <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">again<\/span><\/strong>!<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><span class=\"style42\"><strong>Opportunity C:<\/strong><\/span> Thirdly, what if in implementing tasks on the FRS, you went an extra mile for each one?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">For instance, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spontaneousdevelopment.com\/uploads\/burt_new_flyer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Burt Dubin<\/a> recommends to experts-who-speaker, after doing your normal program, you offer to do a FREE breakout session at no extra charge?<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Or as a writer, instead of ten 700 word articles paid for by the client, you wrote twelve - and let her have the extra two write-ups at no extra charge? <strong>Plus, you made sure the articles you wrote were so good, that s\/he could not help calling to say:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"style3\">\n<div align=\"center\"><strong>\u201cWow, they were all so beautifully written! I honestly cannot thank you enough. You\u2019ve really exceeded my expectations. God bless you!!\u201d<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"style3\">Wouldn\u2019t that be a great feeling to have...in addition to that which would have come from getting paid your desired fees?<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>It certainly would!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>I\u2019ve had that experience more times than I can count. And I know it\u2019s a great way to do what one loves.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Indeed, I\u2019ve already had that experience many times since <a href=\"http:\/\/spontaneousdevelopment.com\/sdnuggets\/update-checked-into-hotel-why-im-keeping-my-destinations-location-secret-for-now\/\" target=\"_blank\">arriving here in Benin Republic 3 months ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><strong>Here\u2019s an example in form of a real email compliment from a web marketing client in Cotonou:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\"><a title=\"Screenshot of an example in form of a real email compliment from a web marketing client in Cotonou:\" href=\"http:\/\/spontaneousdevelopment.com\/uploads\/nana-amaze.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Screenshot of an example in form of a real email compliment from a web marketing client in Cotonou:\" src=\"http:\/\/spontaneousdevelopment.com\/uploads\/nana-amaze.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"400\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><strong>3. <span class=\"style42\">Make Sure You Have the Competence to Over-Deliver In A Manner That Attracts Such Feedback!<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">To elicit such extremely positive reactions from clients, you must <strong>FIRST be really good<\/strong> at what you do.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong><em>The question therefore to ask is:<\/em><\/strong><em> \u201cAre you that good right now?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">If you\u2019re not, <strong>please DO NOT try to over-deliver for now.<\/strong> Instead, start working to improve yourself<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>There\u2019s a saying that \u201c<strong>one must learn to crawl first, before trying to walk\u201d<\/strong>. <\/em>I recommend you do that\u2026unless you don\u2019t mind making yourself look like an ass \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p class=\"style57\"><strong>Then again, some people actually learn how to be amazing that way too. It just happens to be more painful!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">But if you <strong><em>are<\/em><\/strong> already reliably proficient at what you do, you can get started using this strategy I\u2019ve described. Creatively develop variants to suit the way you work, or the people you serve.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style31\"><strong>Final Words: <span class=\"style42\">Be Consistent, and You Will Be Rewarded<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">This is a strategy I use with clients I serve, in my different areas of expertise e.g. Web Marketing Systems Development, <a href=\"http:\/\/spontaneousdevelopment.com\/sdnuggets\/writing-service\/\" target=\"_blank\">Freelance Writing<\/a>, Spreadsheet Solutions Development etc.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">I developed my ideas mainly by studying and adapting advice provided by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.burtdubin.com\" target=\"_blank\">Burt Dubin<\/a> in his writing, to suit my needs<strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Burt used basically the same strategy, to rise <strong>from zero to success in real estate, sales\/sales management, public speaking, and mentoring<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">That\u2019s why he strongly recommends delighting one\u2019s clients in a similar manner i.e. by delivering incomparable performances, and unexpected extras.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong> Keep your fees intact.
