But do research. See what other speakers' websites are about. Look at <em>my<\/em> website <a href=\"http:\/\/burtdubin.com\" target=\"_blank\"><em>burtdubin.com<\/em><\/a> \u2013 well it\u2019s not so much a speaker\u2019s website, as a <em>speaker\u2019s mentor\u2019s<\/em> website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">There are however principles there. Among the principles, be live on your website. I\u2019m live on my website! You\u2019ll see me there. And say the things to respond to the interests of the people who are your market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Don\u2019t talk about how good <em>you<\/em> are. Rather refer to the various ways in which you make <em>them<\/em> look good and be good. Speak about benefits for them, and not about you.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style46\"><span class=\"style20\">2.<\/span> Start an E-zine<\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">For example I have an e-zine. Mine happens to be a monthly. It\u2019s out there every month normally as a rule. Usually goes out the first Tuesday of the month (I sometimes miss by a couple of days).<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">So have an e-zine, and in that e-zine address issues and concerns of interest to the market that you serve. And somewhere in there, invite them to contact you to talk about engaging you, to speak, to train, ah to educate \u2013 whatever it may be that you do.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>To signup for my e-zine, see the end of this article.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style46\"><span class=\"style20\">3. <\/span>Develop Personal Qualities That Will Make You Succeed<\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">You need to deeply believe in what you do. You need to have character. <strong>Strength of character.<\/strong> You need to have authenticity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">You also need to have integrity. <strong>Resolute integrity<\/strong>: There are no degrees in integrity. <strong>There\u2019s no such\u2026there\u2019s no such thing as a partial virgin<\/strong>. You are or you aren\u2019t. Well that\u2019s how integrity is. You have it or you don\u2019t!<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>If you have all of these things, and if you have \u201cFire in your belly\u201d. If you absolutely will not give up - you will be reasonably equipped to get off to a good start. <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Now on top of all that, there\u2019s something else too\u2026<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style46\"><strong><span class=\"style20\">4. <\/span>Make Yourself An Expert On Something<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>Be an expert on something<\/strong>. <em>Don\u2019t be an expert on something people won\u2019t pay for. <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Be an expert on something the world needs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">If you deal on personal development, be an expert on something that helps people develop. If you deal with organizations and most of us do, then you must think in terms of what\u2019s going on within the organization.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>What do they want? Well let me tell you something about what organizations want. <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>Number one: <\/strong>They want return to shareholders. In other words they want to make money so they can pay their stockholders money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>Number two:<\/strong> They want the presidemt, the CEO, the managing director to look good.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><em>These are the two top concerns.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>There\u2019s a third one: <\/strong>The Chief Executive, the CEO of the organization wants to look good himself or herself as the case may be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">How does this happen? By enhancing productivity. By enhancing profits, By enhancing sales. By market penetration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong><em>Now I have just named 4 things:<\/em><\/strong><em> Productivity, profits, sales, market penetration by enhancing the ability, relationships, communication.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Now these are various topics which any speaker can learn about by doing research. Make of yourself an expert at some aspect of something organizations want.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Make yourself so skilled at understanding that, and then tie that in with what\u2019s going on in that organization, within their market, among their people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">And do it with fluency, with passion, with deep belief.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style46\"><strong><span class=\"style20\">5.<\/span> Know The Major Market for Speakers & What Their Decision Makers Want<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">For speakers the major market is the Association Market \u2013 Professional and Trade Associations (especially in North America).<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">Let me tell you what is on the mind of the decision maker who can hire speakers for trade and professional associations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">More than anything else, they want perpetuation of dues income. Write that down. Perpetuation of dues income.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style3\"><strong>Why? Because dues are the oxygen of the organization.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">Without dues they\u2019ve got nothing. What do you do? What will you say that will help them get their members to renew every year?<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>What else do they want? <\/strong>They want members to come to the meetings.<\/p>\n<p>This is because most associations\u2026my own the National Speakers Association for instance, generates more revenue from their annual meetings than from their dues!<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>That\u2019s how most associations are. <\/strong>Now if they want members to come to the meeting, what must they do?<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\"><strong>They must give members value.<\/strong> They must invite speakers that will address issues close to the hearts, the interests, the needs, the challenges the concerns, of the people who are coming to the meeting.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"style46\"><strong><span class=\"style20\">6.<\/span> Get Useful FREE Resources from My Website<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"style3\">If you want to be added to my list <a href=\"http:\/\/burtdubin.com\/contact_test.html\" target=\"_blank\">click here.<\/a> You\u2019ll see a little sign in form.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style3\">And not only will you start to receive the current issue when the next issue comes out.
