During this time she often travelled to developed markets and would visit retailers that stocked Nigerian foods and flavours. She was surprised to discover, however, that many of these Nigerian spices and mixes were actually produced in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe population of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.howwemadeitinafrica.com\/category\/countries\/ghana\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ghana<\/a>\u00a0is less than a fifth of Nigeria\u2019s and I was taken aback, wondering why Nigerian food was being made or packaged in Ghana,\u201d Ladipo-Ajai recalls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.howwemadeitinafrica.com\/category\/countries\/nigeria\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nigeria<\/a>\u00a0doesn\u2019t have the best reputation \u2013 it is known for cutting corners. So it is difficult to export our food because it usually fails the tests of developed countries.
